Re: Great Basketball Moments
It is too bad they can't put all the highlights from these games together and play them before the games at Hilton. I think that would get about everyone pumped up.

Anyone happen to have a tape of that game? I know exactly how you feel. The only game I missed when I was at ISU was the Texas game where Fizer dunked over Mihm. I had a test during the game and couldn't go. I should have just dropped the class....

Re: Great Basketball Moments
All the ISU-KU games at Hilton that I attended when Larry Brown was the Jayhawk coach. An NCAA and NBA champion coach who never got it done at Hilton!! -- PRICELESS!!!! Also of note: the 1986 & 2000 tourney runs (including the total destruction of the Bruin team); the Fizer turn-around shot at KU to seal a win in 2000 (I remember rewinding the tape 15 times just to see the reactions of all those J-hawk fans when the shot went in -- Priceless!!); and finally, the Big 8 tourney win against Mizzou in Floyd's 1st year. Refs were scroogin' us over big time - Floyd was tossed from the game (before the half) - I was about ready to toss my TV out the window - THEN Beechum, Hoiberg & co. came back with a vengance and OWNED the tigers in the 2nd half. I loved to see Norm lose!! Utah Utes, Illinois Illini. The University of Pennsylvania thought about following this pattern by calling themselves the Pennsylvania Pencils. However, they were afraid their students would start chanting "We're No. 2" -

Watching Elmer Robinson hit 3's from the top of the key in '86 against Michigan State and Scott Skiles..............led to an overtime victory.

I was at that game too! Nurse was not even suited up for the 1st half. Then Fizer gets his 4th foul early in the 2nd half while we are getting are butts kicked and here comes the bandaged up Nurse. First 3 he shot had to been at least 5 feet behind the arc. I was like "what in the #&*! are you doing!?!?" **SWISH!** "Ok I'll shut up now..." LOL That game made me a Mike Nurse fan from then on. Guy had heart!

Good call...shot was from way beyond the top of the circle...post game interviewer asked Hornacek what he called that shot. "Please go in," was his response.
But the win over a Roy Taroley-led Michigan team was perhaps the most satisfying because it shut up Mussberger who was calling the game. Mid-way through the first half, he said "it looks like the varsity playng the JV." Of course well all know the JV won that day!
Then again, Lafester strapping 54 on the Hawks in a Cyclone win is very difficult to beat...

Funny thing is, all my Hawkeye friends kept saying how stupid Lafester was...to which I replied, "maybe...but he must've been able to count to 54 to read his stats in the paper."

Re: Great Basketball Moments
All these moments give me goosebumps!! I remember where i was watching almost all of them. One of my favorite Cyclone moments was when Mike Nurse was on Sports Soundoff and kept telling then to play replays of his TWO dunks he had that season! It was so funny!
