Is there a chance that Mac keeps his job? If so, what would your reaction be?
The only possible scenario I see for Mac to stay on as head coach is by beating KU, CU and MU and getting to a bowl and winning. I do not see how anyone could 'sell hope' in this program short of that scenario. If ISU loses 1, 2 or all 3 games, I don't see how JP can keep Mac for even 1 more year. There would be too much rancor in the fan base. Not to mention the fact that the 'fire the coordinators' game has been played once already.

well if the clones win 2 out of 3 dmac keeps his job. 6-6 and he is off the hot seat by JP. when your only bad loss would be ksu and thats when ur rb and two best wr are out, hes going to be ok with 6-6. 5-7 he is on hot seat but stays and anything worse he is gone

If he wins 2 games he MAY stay, but no one would be happy about it except for the die hard Mac blowhards.
If Mac stays for next year, I see less than 25,000 season tickets sold, and that won't be enough. JP will make the right decision. I think he's already made that decision.
You guys probably don't listen to Cyclone Watch on 98.3 on Tuesday nights, but when JP was there in studio and Mac was on the phone, he didn't say a word.

I think that if Dan Mac wins saturday against Kansas he will be back next year. I will agree with you that if Dan loses all three games and does NOT WIN even one game in this conference, it would be very hard to bring him back next year.
As far as "Selling Hope" goes, I wonder what Jamie's definition of that term would be? Maybe you can explain what you think that selling hope actually means. | | |

IMO, the Tech and K-State games sealed his fate. Or they should seal his fate I should say.
But when you take those two games and combine it with how poorly we've played in every game this year..................................*shrug*

I've got to think that JP has run different scenarios in his head regarding any changes/non-changes. He has to know that part/majority of the fan base would erupt if Dan were allowed to stay.
That doesn't translate very well to tickets sold/revenue.

I think 5-7 and he's back, but that last loss has to be Missouri. However, I think we can get a better coach and be more successful. Regardless, Mac or no Mac, I will be in the stands. If you are saying that you won't buy tickets is Mac is here next year, that you are not a true fan, because you are not supporting your team when support is needed. A true fan is there every week.

In my eyes I see him having no shot at coming back. Even if we win out and go to a bowl. This is the same "not getting over the hump" that everyone in the Cyclone fanbase has talked about for the last three years now. With the athletes that we have in our system and the amount of experience we have, there is no reason we should be 3-6 right now. At worst we should be the opposite. If Mac is back, along with Cotton and Skldanay or however you spell it, I will refuse to cheer for the Clones next season.

I'll be at the Kansas game on Saturday and the Mizzou game... but I have to admit I'm totally checked out as far as football goes. I've been subconsciously detaching myself emotionally from the team this season to try and keep it from shaving any more years off of my lifespan.
Besides, basketball starts tonight.

Selling Hope (IMO) = something to be able to sell 30,000+ season tickets with a straight face. In the current scenario that would have to be win out and win a minor bowl game. Then JP and DM could trot out the 6 bowl games in the last 7 years angle to sell tickets for next year.
I trust JP and will cheer for ISU regardless of the outcome.

Defeating Toledo, UNLV and UNI by a combined 9 points. These teams combine for a blistering 9-16 record. And we damn near lost to all of them.
How many years in a row is it now that we've started Big 12 play with 3 straight losses?
Pardon me while I stifle my vomit.

Pardon me while I stifle my vomit. Not to cause any additional stomach discomfort, but since you asked.
2003 0-8 in conference play
2004 0-3 to start conference play
2005 0-3 to start conference play (this gem includes dropping one to Baylor for their first road win in conference HISTORY)
2006 0-6 and -----
Sorry. I know it is lunch time.

I will guarantee you one thing guys, Pollard will sell 25,000 tickets next year whether Dan is there or not. I will not claim to know any inside information or anything like that, but trust me I have talked to donors who contribute more than you and I together and I have heard plenty of support for Mac. Really the only bashing and negative I hear in regard to Mac is on this message board and callers on KXNO. Sure everyone counts with there opinions, but there are also a lot more opinions out there than you realize in favor of Mac.

And as crummy as this one felt, Cyclone fans, it could be a lot worse. You could be a Hawkeye. - Sean Keeler (imagine that, actually quoting Keeler!)

Besides, basketball starts tonight. Totally agree, I'm checked out too. I'll be there saturday but my spirit is really low. Hopefully spirit will be new ingredient they just started adding to beer.
I have never looked more forward to an exhibition game like I am for tonight's! That statement right there should tell JP the state of "hope" in the football program.
