Agree with your comment about the Earle Bruce era. Woody Hayes changed ISU football history. In the fall of 1978 (Bruce's last year) we redshirted our entire class (one of Bruce's best) we hired Donnie Duncan and Duncan drove the program down and then skipped town back to Oklahoma. Enter Jim Criner, then Jim Walden, then Mac. We had quite a pipeline to Ohio back during Bruce's stint and also Chicago. Duncan stopped recruiting there as he didn't have contacts there. Our Florida recruiting was pretty good back then also.
