interesting comment by radio guys
after the game, if you can call it that, one of the radio guys boldly claimed that "noone has given more to ISU athletics than Dan Mc". While this might be true, it is also true that noone has taken more, in terms of dollars than Mac. I am just sick of everyone acting like Mac is the "mother Teresa" of college FB. ISU has given Mac a lot of time and money to make something happen, and after 12 years this is a train wreck. If he was doing his job, the program would not be in this shape.

If Mac is Mother Theresa, I'm Gandhi...

Re: interesting comment by radio guys
I heard that. I think that Walters sees what everyone else does. I also think that he probably personally likes Dan, and doesn't want to see things go out this way.
But he has been here a long time. I don't think that there are 5 schools in Division 1 football that would have stuck with Dan, 13 wins through 5 years, winless conference seasons, etc. So I don't feel sorry for Dan either.
He has made a lot of money, and lets be honest here, the results have not been there. And only now, after 12 years, do we hear people talking about expectations.
Kirk Ferentz has had a hell of a lot more success than Dan, and I have read that people are excited that they lost. You read their message boards, and people are down on what he is doing. This is a guy that has coached conference championship teams. Iowa fans have enough belief in their universities athletic department to believe that they deserve things like conference titles. We call them arrogant for that.
But if we are ever going to get to that point then we have to also have the "arrogance" to demand production from the people that coach our teams.

The best comment was by Bruns when he said "This is the worst offense I have seen since I have been at ISU. And that does include the 2003 season."

And by the way I would be more ****** as a Hawkeye fan that you are paying a guy over $3 million and there assistants $400,000 more than our assistants and they can't even keep a season from losing to cellar dwellars like Northwestern. The benefit for Hawk fans though is that Miller was saying that Alamo Bowl reps already have lined up the Hawks for the game even if they lose both of the remaining games. Don't you love it how a 6-6 Big Ten team can play in a bowl that ISU would probably need 9 wins to get in?

Re: interesting comment by radio guys
money talks...bowl games want people to spend the bucks and Iowa travels as well as any team. Why do you think they got to a New Year's day bowl last year with the team/record they had?

Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -
Re: interesting comment by radio guys
I agree and realize this, but all it does is cheapen the bowl system even more than it already is. I means that a 6 win teams that travel should be rewarded more than a 9 or 10 win team that doesn't have the same fan base.

But it is this same watered down bowl system that allowed Mac to go to the five bowl games in six years that he constantly spews at us.

Motor City Bowl for the Sqwaks

Re: interesting comment by radio guys
Dan has done very well at Iowa State, please don't feel sorry for him... he has been paid very, very well for his services...

Re: interesting comment by radio guys
The Hawks will never see the Motor City Bowl. They travel well which will slip them above other Big 10 schools every year.

The teams with the most high schools get the best recruits, the schools with the most money does the most winning, and the teams with the most fans will always get the better bowl games regardless of how bad their records might be.
Note of Interest: In 1976 Earle Bruce had the number one offense in the country and won eight games and couldnt get into a bowl game. Talk about injustice!! -
Re: interesting comment by radio guys
I have always said that Woody Hayes is the cause of how bad our football program is. If he wouldn't have lost his cool with the Clemson linebacker and started hitting him after his interception against Ohio State, he would never have been fired and Earl Bruce would have stayed at ISU and just think of the tradition we could have now. Bruce had us going in the right direction after posting three 8-3 seasons before leaving to go to Ohio State.
