As long as we're talking about things that wont ever happen, why not Ditka as HC, with the Ravens DC, and Peyton Manning as OC. Sure Peyton would be unproven as a coach, but we're Iowa State, and we can't do any better.
First, KF is not getting the boot at Iowa. His next stop, whenever that is - won't be another college program - it's the NFL.
On Valley's coach Gary Swenson - I get the vibe from him that he's doing exactly what he wants to and does not have the desire to move up. I could be wrong, but that's just the vibe I get from him when talking to him and listening to his speeches from the ISU coach's clinic in the spring.
Not saying anything against Gary Swenson, but where have you seen a successful coach in D1 that went from HS HC to D1 HC. Bob Cummings at Iowa or maybe Faust at Notre Dame? I would agree we need someone with fresh ideas. They would come in with a better program than what Mac came too. Mac is not leaving the program at the low level it was when he came, but scared if he stays we will be back to that point soon
I like the WDSM guy and all, but I was being sarcastic.
ISU's best chance is to get an young coach from 1AA or NFL assistant. I kind of like the assistant idea. That always helps recruiting when you can say I have NFL connections and knows what it takes to make it.
Okay, I was kidding about KF and Harbaugh. I do think Mac as head cheerleader and spin doctor makes sense. That is mostly what he did in the last 12 years.
