Take a look at an Iowa State license plate or just look at my avatar. Don't you think we should demand they change the "Iowa" on the plate to "Iowa State"? It bothers me whenever I look at them closely. They could leave off the ISU and add state without too much trouble.

I thought I was the only one bothered by that. Clearly, a Hawk designing the plates in prison.

I agree, it should be changed
Don't confuse hope for a plan. -
I guess I always just thought that the state required it to just say Iowa. It should definately be changed

The IOWA at the top has nothing to do with the universities. It is the state. It is required at the top to signify IOWA plates. It says Cyclones at the bottom. Just like the hawkeye plates say Hawkeyes at the bottom. The UNI plates say Iowa at the top and Panthers at the bottom. From a distance, UNI plates look a lot like hawkey plates because the purple is very similar to black until you getter a closer look.

Worry not fellow Clones fans. In 5 yrs after ISU dominates the Pukeyes, the NFL gets Kirk finally, which is the only reason they are as good as they are (except against us), Alfraud continues his style. They will officially rename that university EIU and then all our teams will have only part of our name on the plate. Hopefully by then, 98.5% of all the college plates will be red and yellow(80%) or purple and yellow(18.5%). That is my hope.............I mean prediction

How about white license plates, with red letters. The Mizzou ones look pretty cool.

I assumed this was a state law or at least some DOT policy. But why can't we change that low or policy? It's not like IOWA STATE on the plate would be ambiguous.

I live north of Ankeny and I'm in Des Moines often and I would say there are twice as many Cyclone plates as hawkeye plates in this area. Anyone else agree? How about your area?

I've got a question about this "law" or "DOT policy." What if the owner of the plates wasnt from Iowa? Then they wouldnt be iowa plates, so i dont think it could be a law (or policy). I think its just another way for EIU fans to make it look like they are superior through some stupid little way.

I agree. I wind up in various parts of Des Moines pretty often, and it's actually rare that I see a Hawkeye plate. They're certainly there, but greatly outnumbered by the oft-seen Cyclone plates.
I live in Iowa City, and ISU plates are actually fairly common here, believe it or not. I don't know how it happened, but there are a respectable share of Cyclone alums, fans, and families in the Iowa City metro.
True and Valiant
I also remember a game with Kansas when Cy (wore a huge suit then) went out to center field, squatted, and "pooped" a couple of chickens that had been dyed blue then chased them around.
