McCarney mentioned in Sportsline article
McC is mentioned in an article about the firing/hiring of coaches around D1 FB. http://sportsline.com/collegefootball/story/9780573 -
Re: McCarney mentioned in Sportsline article
I won't be happy until I see it on the front of cyclones.com, but it will do for now

Re: McCarney mentioned in Sportsline article
If anyone still thinks Mac will be around after this season, they are "smoking some bad weed"

I hope Mac is done and I hope we go find an up and coming name like we did with McDermott. We need someone with a proven win percentage and a proven coaching mind. I don't care who we get, but I don't want to hear that "we were outcoached" following a loss.

Re: McCarney mentioned in Sportsline article
As far as the media goes, at least that article is making some progress, in the sense that the writer isn't preaching how DM is the best thing that has ever happened or will happen to ISU FB, and that ISU fans need to shut up and settle for 55-83 football...

Re: McCarney mentioned in Sportsline article
Is an up and comer the right answer for ISU? ISU's biggest disadvantage is that they can't recruit favorably against schools with nicer facilities and a better history of winning. In my view, if you want to close that gap, you find an NFL coordinator and hire him. This will give a reason for good recruits to come to ISU. Of course, it may be difficult to lure a decent NFL coordinator as they already make a decent salary -- I don't know who is out there and if there are any good fits or not.

Re: McCarney mentioned in Sportsline article
Nobody should be scared of a coach leaving because he has success here at Iowa State. That means he HAD SUCCESS and it will be easier to start over again.

Exactly, if a successful coaches leaves for bigger and better things, it means it'll be that much easier to hire a good coach, because they'll be coming in to a quality program.

When he came to tu a couple of years ago, most people thought it would only be for a few years before he got his HC job.
Hey Jamie, (I know you read this) hire Chizik!!!!
