Word has it that Ferentz may be gone if he loses out
There's a good chance Iowa could lose it's last two games and still get paired against a tough bowl opponent. Which could leave EIU at 6-7. I'm hearing grumblings in Iowa City that Ferentz will be pressured to take his $2.8 mil back to the NFL if that happens. But I don't think he would get a HC job in the NFL. I think Pollard should go after him.

Come on! That rumor is CRAZY! Iowa is not in such shape that they would need to fire Captain Kirk. These rumors are getting WAY out of hand...

Not gonna happen. Iowa could lose out and Ferentz will still have a job. No way they fire him. Whenever an NFL job opens up his name is always mentioned. He is one of the hottest coaches out there. Iowa would be crazy to fire him.

Yeah, Iowa's going to fire the coach that's taken them to 3 straight Jan bowl games.

I heard from a very credible source that Steve Alford has been offered a lifetime contract with the Iowa Hawkeyes due to his outstanding job of bringing in players that do well on and off the field without any rumblings or negative attention brought to the program. The new AD mentioned that he has always been able to do so much more with less.

I think that somewhere in between the "Ferentz is gone if he loses another game" rumor and the "Ferentz has been hired to work for Iowa until he dies, and also as an undead coach for no less that two centuries" rumor, there lies the UIowa student body and the Iowa City metro.
Since the original poster doesn't seem to have any knowledge of either, I'll fill in the blanks: Iowa students LOVE Ferentz. They worship him. I'm not kidding. The guy is untouchable. He would have to do some pretty atrocious things to get students and community members to turn against him. He's not going anywhere, sheesh. The guy is a damn good coach, too- he's there for a while.

I also remember a game with Kansas when Cy (wore a huge suit then) went out to center field, squatted, and "pooped" a couple of chickens that had been dyed blue then chased them around.

Yeah, Iowa's going to fire the coach that's taken them to 3 straight Jan bowl games. This one ranks right up there with space alliens and honest politicians. Maybe there are some folks that are unhappy because this was the Iowa team that was suppose to be in the NC game , but the Iowa program is no where near the train wreck that ISU fb is.

Re: Word has it that Ferentz may be gone if he loses out
I just heard that Ferentz is going to step down at Iowa and take the Iowa State job.
Then Mac will be offered the Iowa job, accept it, and we will have pulled the ole switch-er-roo.

Re: Word has it that Ferentz may be gone if he loses out
We'll trade Dan for Kirk and each team can throw in 3-4 players to make it interesting.

Re: Word has it that Ferentz may be gone if he loses out
IMO: Dan and Kirk are interchangable for either school. Kirk would be let go this year at ISU and Dan would have had the success Kirk has a few years back.
personally: I don't want Kirk. I want someone better than Kirk.
and back on the topic of the thread starter..... you are smoking your socks.
