We already know that JP has let go to the most successful Iowa State head coach in Cyclone history. Now it is up to JP to re-energize this fan base and give people a reason to keep their season tickets. I know that JP can do it.

Do you think he was unsupported, with facts and by fans, in his decision to let Mac go?
Judging from his basketball and wrestling coaching moves (although it's a little earlier to call), he knows how to make solid decisions when he has to.
Well if wrestling, and basketball are not already, then this football move will be a true testament to his success here at ISU. Most of us agree that a move needed to be made, but the success has to be positive, not negative. So if this back fires by hiring another coach who is unsuccessful, unfortunately the blame falls back on JP. And that is something Im sure he has considered.

I would think the alumni said they would only contribute if the coach was changed. Otherwisde, it wouyld not have been leaked out sao quickly.
We are building a better football program by 2009. That is my prediction when we might win the North again. Yes, Nebraska took three years oif humping to make it back to the top. It is not as easy as we want it to be.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style.
One thing is for sure. JPs place in ISU history will be determined in the coming weeks. We all love the Cale and McD hires. If he makes a great hire for football, he will be remembered forever as the guy that got it done. If we go through 2-3 coaches in the next 10 years, an alternative fate will be sealed.

Go get your man JP!!!
Thats exactly what i was trying to say, maybe in simpilar terms.

I don't think the magnitude of this hire can be understated. We did just get rid of arguably the most successful coach in Iowa State history. It's a decision that I can certainly understand given what's transpired with the program over the last few years.
However, the margin of error is so small when you're a school with our budget that a bad hire could plunge ISU back into the dark ages while a good hire could revitalize the entire athletic department and make ISU competitive year in and year out. I'm not going to lie and say I'm not nervous.
