Phillip Bates
Well our hands down best recruit thus far has reopened his recruitment and is looking at Oklahoma and Nebraska. Can't say i'm suprised but I would really like him to come to ISU. This kid just screams stud!! So we will see how this goes...

Re: Phillip Bates
Do you have a link or source? Please just say this is a joke that isn't funny.

Re: Phillip Bates
He has opened up he recruitment.

Re: Phillip Bates
No joke, go read Nebraska's rivals site. He said he opened it up again on the radio this afternoon.... Oklahoma seems to be the new frontrunner, can't say i blame him....

Re: Phillip Bates
can't say I am surprised to hear this, unfortunately these things will come with the territory we are in now
-
Re: Phillip Bates
Yea I kind of expected it but I was still hoping it wouldn't happen. That is like half of our recruiting class right now.

Re: Phillip Bates
My friend saw him play in the Nebraska state playoffs and while they lost. He said he was going to be a very good quarterback and said he outshined fellow recruit Niles Paul. Paul committed to Neb at WR and is a 4 star recruit...

Originally Posted by BigDISU1 can't say I am surprised to hear this, unfortunately these things will come with the territory we are in now I agree, but as you say, this is the price we pay. If we get the right guy, we could probably have 10 Bates type athletes in the program.

Re: Phillip Bates
Well as long as Arnaud stays were fine, Austin is probably more of a Qb than Bates. I havent sen Bates, but well be fine with 3 years of Austin at the helm.

Re: Phillip Bates
It is great that we have Arnaud. I don't think he is going anywhere! He grew up in Ames and never really considered anyone else. But having Bates in the program would be very nice!

Re: Phillip Bates
While I'm sure Bates is talented and would be a great addition to the team, we still have what should be a very good QB in Arnaud waiting in the wings. I have a lot bigger concerns than our quarterback possition for the next few years.

Re: Phillip Bates
According to channel 5, they talked to Bates and Bates told them the most important reason he came to ISU was Dan.... So it doesn't look good...
-
Re: Phillip Bates
I pretty much expected that too. The change over is going to be pretty tough, and I just hope everyone remembers that putting in a new system in football usually means 2 years minimum and maybe three. -
Re: Phillip Bates
Oh man I was dreading this. At the same time, expected. Crap... I was really looking forward to perhaps a double QB system (It would have worked better with Arnaud and Bates, as opposed to Flynn and Meyer).
Passing: 124/273, 1560 yds, 8 TDs
Rushing: 441 yds, 3 TDs
Receiving: 98 Rec, 1106 yds, 3 TDs -
Re: Phillip Bates
Did a little bit of research and here are the committment numbers across the big 12
1. Baylor-24
1. Kansas State-24
3. Texas-23
4. Colorado-20
5. Texas A&M-17
5. Missouri-17
7. Nebraska-14
8. Texas Tech-12
8. Oklahoma State-12
10. Oklahoma-10
11. Kansas-7
12. Iowa State-6 (Bates no longer committment)
Iowa State has 18 seniors graduating and as of November, we only have 6 committments taking their place. There is still some time left for recruiting but most kids like to have their mind made up by Christmas. New coaching staff probably won't be introduced for another month or so and by then ISU is going to miss out on a lot of recruits. Whoever comes in is going to need a solid recruiting class right away!!!
