I had the same thought. Perhaps he's of the opinion that ISU isn't of the caliber to get someone like Chizek, so why even bother talking about it...

Could be a number of things. He isn't called upon to recruit much at UT. That's big for us. Secondly - he may likely be in line for a top 10 job.

I'm not banking anything until I hear an announcement.

Just like "bank it that Jeter will become ISU's next MBB coach"...we all know how that worked out.

I appears that Chizik isn't interested in the job. Nor is Pelini. And Harbaugh hasn't even been contacted...

That leaves Brewster.

Yeah, I remember going to sleep thinking Jeter was our next coach and it was just paperwork and then waking up and finding out Jeter said he never wanted the job.

Brewster, with Loney as OC & Assistant HC? That wouldn't be bad.

Arrived in STL via Ames, IA & Bloomington, IN!

Like Pollard said last night, he always has a short list of possible replacements for every coaching position. He already has an idea of the strengths and weaknesses of various candidates...he just needs to meet face-to-face and make sure they are on the same page.

Re: Dienhart Article on New Coach @ISU

The Iowa State coaching positon is not that attractive at the national level. You're stuck in Iowa at a school with a pretty low budget.

That's not to say we can't get a good a coach, but he's going to have be the right fit. Maybe I'll be surprised, but I'm doubtful we'll get someone like Harbaugh or Price. More likely is someone with previous ties to the program who's had some success in the college or professional ranks.

A lot of people don't seem to like Steve Looney because he's not "flashy enough". Well gosh the New England Patriot coach isn't very flashy but he seems successful? I'm not sure if Looney is our guy but I think we should take a serious look at him. He's got college and pro experience, did well when he coached here. is an ISU graduate and wants to coach here?

I have little doubt that Jeter was interested in the job. But he's not going to state that he wasn't selected. If he wasn't, he wouldn't have met with Pollard.

How many times to you hear a coach say "yeah, I really wanted the job, but the chose somebody else over me"?

They're never "not selected", they're just "not interested".

Bring on the Brewski's with Brewster!!

Chizik: "One thing that I’d encourage our fans…I want them to be the loudest stadium in the Big 12. I don’t care…I want Jack Trice stadium to be the loudest in the Big 12 and I think that creates homefield advantage.... I want to stress to everyone…I want this place to be juiced up. They bought 36,000 season tickets so there is a passion there…don’t hide it…let it out. I want there to be a passion in the stadium."

I-S-U!
