My reasoning behind this ranking is a combination of gut feeling and reading into Jeremy's comments.
Chizek is a household name for anyone that follows college football. Probably better known than head coaches of some programs that are enjoying success this year. UT is on TV almost every week and there is a camera in the booth showing Gene every game. He knows the Big 12. He knows Texas. He knows how to scheme to beat the other teams in the Big 12.
Brewster is clearly getting major kudos from our Longhorn friends as a major recruiter and clearly the guy can coach, or he wouldn't be on Shanahan's staff. To me, he fits Jeremy's comment of "great get".
Price - let's face it - he was good enough to get the Alabama job before he messed up. He's having success at UTEP - and they aren't exactly pulling the blue chips in TX.
Based on Dienhart's column and my gut, I have a feeling it will be Brewster. JP wouldn't have to pay through the nose for him. Plus, JP picked the "uncoventional" choice with GMac and Brewster fits this mold...
My 2¢.
Wouldn't surprise me. Someone in another thread asked about Chizek. I don't disagree with the posters on the UT board. He may very well be in line for a top 10 job.
Whoever it is, I hope it happens fast - for recruiting purposes. If it's Brewster, I wonder if he would step in immediately, or have to split time like Charlie Weis did when he left the Patriots. We certainly can't wait until the Broncos finish the playoffs for him to start assembling a staff and begin recruiting.
Some People see things as they are and say why? I dream things that never were and say why not? When I took this job I said why not Iowa State? Why not winning? Why not bowl games? Why not sell outs? Why not national respect? Why not us? Why not here? Why not the cyclone family?
