He is my #1 hopeful for the new coaching spot, with Chizik in 2nd place followed by Jim Harbaugh in 3rd.
| Chizik: "One thing that I’d encourage our fans… I want them to be the loudest stadium in the Big 12. I don’t care… I want Jack Trice stadium to be the loudest in the Big 12 and I think that creates homefield advantage.... I want to stress to everyone…I want this place to be juiced up. They bought 36,000 season tickets so there is a passion there…don’t hide it… let it out. I want there to be a passion in the stadium."

What am I missing with Brewster? It seems he's spent his entire career as a tight end coach. From what I can tell he's never had any experience as an offensive nor defensive coordinator, let alone as a head coach. What makes him such a hot commodity?

The Texas Rivals moderater said Brewster is the best recruiter he's ever seen....period. He was the reason Texas got Vince Young.

So, if you can recruit the best kids in the country, but you can't coach them, what does it matter. It looks like Harbaugh can coach & recruit! Sounds good to me. | | |

Head coaches are managers of the team. In this day in age, you need coordinators to handle all of the in game action, and the coach just needs to make the difficult decisions. If the guy can bring in talent from the south and recruit like this, supposedly, then he should be 1 of the top candidates for us. I could get behind Brewster.

He can recruit and he can coach. They don't hire recruiters in the NFL. Plus I really like him working under Shanahan, he is a great offensive mind. He is my pick but what do I know Ive never talked to any of these guys. Im sure JP will make the right choice.

Hey everybody, not trying to expand on a rumor and I've never seen him in person, but I flew into Denver today for the ISU game this weekend and I swear I saw Jamie Pollard. Like I said I've never seen him before in person so it may not have been him.

I agree that Mike Shanahan would be a good sounding board and that the guy's coordinators are probably just as important as he is to overall success of the program. Frankly, any of these guys are great. Compared to the last ISU football coaching search, the level of candidates that we are considering is remarkably higher. I would take any of these guys.
I do think it is important to keep in mind that we are never going to recruit heads up vs the Texas and Oklahomas of the world unless we have a gimmick, like Harbaugh or a well known NFL coordinator, so if we do not go for either of those it would be nice to have a coach smart enough to do "trickeration" and or non-traditional schemes to try and make it difficult for other teams to prepare for us.
Do keep in mind with Brewster that he was recruiting for TX not ISU, so even if he is a great recruiter, things could be tougher going than expected.
