Correct me if I'm wrong (please).
Are we not allowed to talk to HC's during the season? If so then we can assume Harbaugh's not a candidate cause JP couldn't even talk to him yet.

I think he is a candidate, but is likely not #1 on the list.

I'm not sure if that is only D1s or 1A. I have a feeling he could talk to him, but I have nothing to base that on.

I was just trying to put 2 + 2 together. If we can't talk to him and Pollard is already meeting with the top candidates that pretty much puts him way down the list.

Even if he is unable to officially talk, it doesn't really matter. They can talk to an intermediatary (sp?) like a friend, wife, lawyer, etc.
This wouldn't be the first time something like this has happened.

I think that only D1 HC are off limits. 1-AA HC are allowed to be contacted. At least this is what I have seen implied in other posts/websites. Sorry for a lack of a definite answer.

The rule in the pros is that you must wait until the season's over before you contact a coach from another team. I think it's anything goes in college ball, though you probably ask permission of the AD first, particularly in mid-season. I could be wrong.

You can contact pro coaches anytime.
Harbaugh's contract allows him to pursue other options at anytime. That's according to a San Diego message board. Sounds like this is the time of year the rumors start flying with him down there. Apparently it's no secret that he wants to move on up.

Today, still wanted by BCS teams, he survives as a coach of fortune. If you have a problem - if no one else can help - and if you can find him- maybe you can hire: Gene Chizik.
