Men's Basketball Predictions
Since the start of the season kicks off tonight what are all of your predictions for the seaseon? It can be records, standings in the big 12, or performance of individual players. Anything really.

Re: Men's Basketball Predictions
i hope to go .500 the fact that we are soo young and in a new system i think that in the words of Borat would be...great success, high five yesamesh

Re: Men's Basketball Predictions
This isn't really a prediction, but it would be nice to get some wins early and watch the team improve the entire year. .500 would be nice.

Re: Men's Basketball Predictions
Overall record just below .500. Conference record around 5-11. 10th in the Big XII. Just short of NIT this year.
Can't expect too much more than that IMO.

Re: Men's Basketball Predictions
I believe we could finish around the middle of the Big XII, at least around a .500 record. I'm not going to necessarily expect us to do that, simply because we've barely seen anything as of yet, but I think we could. And I don't say that meaning anything against the team.... they're young, new system, new coach... lot's of new stuff. But I see lots of promise.

Re: Men's Basketball Predictions
1) Tough non-conference road schedule (although Minnesota looks bad)
2) Young team at the gaurd spots
3) Limited outside shooting (as of the first 2 games I watched)
4) Missing Jiri the first few games
I think with those factors, we will start off slow maybe going into Big 12 7-6, 8-5. Once we get everyone back and they get more time together i think they will start to gel. maybe a couple games below .500

Can't expect too much more than that IMO. I think this is a good call, but I think we will end up at 15-15 and lose in the first round of the Big XII tourney in OK City. Speaking of the Big XII tourney, is anyone planning on going down there? I believe Cory Johnson will be pretty solid and Wesley Johnson will be amazing if he can control his emotions and not **** of McD. I hope that CM gets his shot going soon as well.

I think we will start off slow and it won't be pretty but I think we will start to gel and by the end of the year no one is going to want to play us.

Yep. I think we will go 10-4 non conference and 5-11 conference to end up at 15-15.
Our conference wins will likely be Nebraska, Colorado, Oklahoma, Texas Tech at home and Nebraska on the road.
If we get lucky there may be one or two more wins to get above .500.

Re: Men's Basketball Predictions
I'm guessing right around .500 although with as much talent we have on this team we could be surprisingly better. We are young and immature but there is not a doubt that the talent is there. I could see us winning as many as 18 games although it would be a stretch. I think we just squeak into the NIT.

Re: Men's Basketball Predictions
I watched the Wayne State game, and I will be surprised if we get more than 12-13 wins. However, I don't think we'll ever lose by more than a dozen points to anyone except maybe Kansas. Gmac has the boys playing defense. There will be times when we won't be able to score, and we will probably be dominated in the post by most opponents. I think Gmac may try to emphasize transition offense in conference play.
I'm most worried about Marsden and Grey. Neither was a factor in the Wayne State game. I know Grey is injured, but he's never been a factor since he's been at ISU. I didn't see any improvement from Marsden... hopefully he just had a bad night.

I think you have to add a home win against Mizzou they aren't very good either.

In W. Johnson's defense, that dunk was absolutely sick.
