Before we make Harbaugh ISU's football savior...
I have no problem with Harbaugh being our ultimate choice for coach, but there are some things I've heard about him that bother me.
I new some guys who attended Michigan during the years that Harbaugh was with the Chargers. When Jim would come back to Ann Arbor for various reasons back then, they would always see him out at the bars. According to them, he was very approachable, especially if you were a co-ed. Apparently, Harbaugh took it a step further, and went home with female students as well. I have no problem with that except he was married at the time.
Now before anyone rips me for spreading a rumor type story and goes crazy with neg. rep, I'm not saying this should keep him from getting any coaching job, including ISU's. I like Harbaugh, as do the guys from Michigan who relayed this info. to me. And this was about ten years ago. But, he's not as squeaky clean as some might suggest.

I believe he also had an OWI a year or 2 ago.

Can he win at Iowa State? If the answer is yes, sign him up.

He was arrested for suspicion of drunk driving on Nov. 2nd, 2005 and plea bargained to a charge of reckless driving in January. his BAC was .09 just over the California state limit of .08. So not that bad. I could see peoples concern of not having another Larry Eustachy Incident but Mac didn't exactly come into the program squeaky clean. http://www.signonsandiego.com/uniont...3harbaugh.html -

While I agree with the need to win, JP shouldn't look the other way when it comes to candidates' background. I don't think ISU should sacrifice running a clean, upstanding program in order to win. This will probably be JP's toughest hire ever... -

Character has to count as well, The ISU coach as a mentor of Young Men. I would recommend you see the new movie " Facing the Giants" I would rank it 5 Stars and about a High School Football Team.

Don't forget our last hire for a football coach had abused his wife, but he ran a very clean program and was a solid citizen after the hire.

Folks, this is Iowa and Character will count. If this coach comes in and isn't a class-act like Mac was, the fanbase and boosters won't be happy.

He's not going to be our successor.

I would guess that the athletic department is going over the backgrounds of the potential coaching candidates with a very fine tooth comb. Any candidate found to have ongoing or potential alcohol and fidelity issues would likely be quickly disqualified, or at least I hope he would be...
I want to win as badly at the next Cyclone fan, but not at the cost of potentially sacrificing program integrity or dragging the Athletic Department though another scandal.
