Bobby Knight
ESPN is desperatly trying to keep the "slapping" story alive tonight. I saw nothing wrong with what he did, the player & his parents saw nothing wrong with it so PLEASE LET IT GO ESPN!

Re: Bobby Knight
The media loves to bash Bobby. Kids know what they are in for when signing up to play for Knight.....his behavior is nothing new.

Re: Bobby Knight
It makes me angry that they keep pushing the story, even when (at the time of my post) espn.com's OWN poll shows that 79% of 169,000 polled think that if it had been any other coach, it wouldn't be a big deal, and 74% of 16,500 polled think that knight should neither have to apologize nor be suspended. That, and all 4 involved (knight, the player, player's parents, and TTech AD) say that it is a non-issue...over and done with. I want ESPN to get back to reporting on some sports.

Re: Bobby Knight
My favorite part of the ordeal is Bobby Knight telling Andy Katz that he would do it again, "If I was confronted with the same set of circumstances I would do the exact same thing," Knight said.

Making a mountain out of a mole hill once again. Just let the man coach!

Re: Bobby Knight
He's gonna be near 1000 wins when it's all said and done. He's 65, but you've gotta think he'll go at least another 5 years.

Re: Bobby Knight
I might be the only one but I think it's wrong to hit a player like that for any reason.

Re: Bobby Knight
I think this whole thing is stupid. This kid's parents and him said they don't care and he barely touched this kid. ESPN and all the other news places just need a story from something that is not a big deal. People have done way worse than try to help a kid for the rest of his life.

Re: Bobby Knight
Sports is an emotional, physical "business". Contact between players and coaches is inevitably going to happen. Many people can't understand that. However, the days of striking players, jerking face masks, etc - are over.
I do not think it's right to choke a player. On the other side, I don't think the latest "story" about Bob Knight is newsworthy. No one has an issue with it except the media.
Let it die folks.

Re: Bobby Knight
when a coach who knows more about the game of basketball than you could ever possibly know is trying to tell you something, you look him in the eyes when he's giving you a good *** chewing, the kid was being disrespectful and a pansy.

What he did is similar to grabing a player's arm to get their attention if they are not looking at you.
Plus, if he had hit him with any force, his head would have rose up higher and come back down to look him in the eye. In the video, his head went smoothly to eye level.

Re: Bobby Knight
This is tame for bobby, he didnt even do anything really wrong, but the media needs something to talk about for a week.

Re: Bobby Knight
Was just watching the news tonight. Anyone remember when Steve Alford gave Boyd a rather strong shove in the back when they went in for half-time of a game? No?
Yeah, didn't think so - neither did I. Because the news didn't think anything of it.
If Knight had done that, just as this minor issue - the media would have been all over him for "punching" a player in the back.
