I just have to confess this!
I am a senior at ISU in Civil Engineering and I am spending the summer in Pompano Beach, Fl for an internship. I literally live two blocks from the ocean. My days consist of working and relaxing with nothing really to worry about. I don't have to worry about tests, classes, homework, projects, being a poor college student ect, ect. I miss friends and family, but overall, life can't be any better.
My confession is that I would throw all of this away, and take on the crap and stress of school in a heartbeat just to get us to FOOTBALL SEASON. I have a countdown in my phone til kick off and we're finally under 90 days and it just can't get here soon enough! Does anyone else already have the fever?!?!?
Remember that stressed spelled backwards is desserts!

I'm ill with football fever, listening to the Edmonton - Saskatchewan game live on Canadian Radio - and it's *preseason* lol. The Esk's aren't even playing Troy Davis (or Ricky Ray for that matter) and probably won't next week either, but hey, it's outdoor football, and it's on the air!

Yes... unfortunately baseball can't get me through cause I know the Cubs won't do well and all I want is for their management to get fired... which I also know won't happen... *sigh*... Here's to counting down until football season! The Cyclones and the Chicago Bears! Should be a good year!

Sounds like we are in the dog days of June. When NBA is settled, I want to go into hibernation. Baseball is so boring. I would vote for college games to move up to 15 Aug.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -
Good to know that there are others out there. I just have these burning questions like will Hicks show up like he did at the end of '04 or will he play like what I saw in the spring game where he hit the holes about as hard as Iowa hit us last year. Also, can our new LB's take on the big 12 schedule??? More importantly, how long will it take coach mac to sweat through all of his pants. Maybe with the night games, he won't be too bad! GO CYCLONES!

Yeah I must have the fever also. I just watched 6 hours of Fox's Big 12 Preview last night and have to say there isn't any other Big 12 coach that comes off as well as Dan McCarney. The producers of our 1/2 hour segment did a fabulous job, clearly the most interesting of any of the Big 12 schools. Doing more with less is what Mac does best.

I hadn't heard anything about that. Any idea if/when they're going to re-air it, or if it's online anywhere?
And yes, I'm really damn excited about football season. I'm in the drumline, and now that we're sitting right next to the student section, things are gonna get a lot crazier... I feel sorry for the other team already.
True and Valiant
I also remember a game with Kansas when Cy (wore a huge suit then) went out to center field, squatted, and "pooped" a couple of chickens that had been dyed blue then chased them around.

In Des Moines we have Mediacom and the Fox channel that carries the Big 12 preview is channel 40. They have been running the Preview for about a week now but I can't tell you if they will run it again.
You're in the drumline, that's awesome. I love that 30 second solo the drumline does in the second half. It sounds like a war dance and the only thing I think would make it better would be having a half naked, long haired, long legged tribal woman dance wildly while beating your drums.

Can you please give a recap of the highlights talked about on that show? Some of us (me) are far away from cyclone country right now.

Hell yeah things should be a lot crazier with the band next to the student section... I'm definitely pumped about that. Props to the man in the drumline.. I'm in the trumpet section myself.
Looking forward to football!

I think it is cool that this post turned into the ISUCF"V"MB shout outs. I am also in the band and think that it is a great idea to move the band next to the student section. It was so much fun during the Iowa game last year. I can only wait to see how much fun it will be next year!
Oh yea I play the mellophone but I thought some people might be able to catch that from my sn.

I had football fever and had just started to get it tamed a little, when my son had football camp the other afternoon. Just the sound of the whistles, coaches and bands practicing made it all come back more than ever. I just can't wait for that first night game and all of the tailgating to come before it. My wife even is giving me a hard time because I got an invitation to my old college roommate's wedding on a Saturday in September that happens to be game day. Needless to say I told her there will be a present in the mail!!!

I am always amazed band members don't eat it while running to the stands

Believe me, it's happened before, and it's not pretty.
This will be my first football season not in the band, and I am so excited I am wishing my last summer as a student away! I purchased my season tickets way back in March and have been trying to read anything and everything I can about the upcoming season.

The Iowa State band rocks every year in comparison to other schools...I remember thinking how terrible the Hawkeye band was last year as they warbled right in front of me..
thought better on that...
