"Waiting until after the game is out of respect for departing coach Dan McCarney. But, let's just say that McCarney and Iowa State aren't departing on great terms. A source told me that ISU officials wanted to give McCarney a big send-off before the Missouri game this weekend, but McCarney balked at the idea. "
Poor reporting...at least from what I have heard. Dan & Jamie & ISU remain on very good terms. Mac has not wanted this weekend to be about him at the expense of the Seniors. As he has throughout his career Mac has put his players first. It is not about Mac being upset with ISU, it is about who he wants to be most emphasized.
No, I believe that Dienhart has suggested it before based on Jamies hiring of Wisconsin people. I would be surprised if that is accurate as it would be rather petty of what I perceive as a classy guy in Alvarez. I don't doubt that Jamie and the team he as assembled are making their own decision however.
Very bad reporting, Dan is balking on a big sendoff because he wants the day to be about his seniors and not him because that is the kind of guy he is. Dienhart seems like a p.o.s.
Plus the fact that he's saying pretty much everything Jeremy already stated... (with exception to Pelini - who's probably a fan favorite, but more likely to head to East Lansing)
The only comment I have it that I have been very dissapointed in Dienhart's comments from the beginning. I know some of his sources and they are the more least reliable I have talked to if that means anything. He probably has some solid contacts as well but he hasn't shown it by posting anything. And I can tell you that Alvarez and Pollard have spoken, many of times. Alvarez didn't want to see Mac let go and has made that known.
A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.
Pollard's too smart to leave on bad terms with Alvarez. I've heard he was pretty much the AD but Alarez had the title. I think Pollard made Barry look good.
Everything Jamie has done so far has got to get Cyclone fans excited from the Coaches he has hired to the expansion of the stadium, Hilton, etc. My God, look our other AD'S, I hope we can keep him around for a while, he will do wonderful things here...I like the fact that he's not afraid to pull the trigger weather it be to dismiss a coach or start fund-raising..
