Field of 65

No teams from Iowa are currently projected to make the NCAA tournament (per the Sporting News). Four teams from the Big 12 are projected to recieve bids: Kansas, Texas, Oklahoma State, and Texas A&M

This topic should have been listed in MBB instead of Women BB

Re: Field of 65

Well that is a fair assesment on the Iowa schools. Hopefully we can gel as a team and some of that athletic talent can lead us to a berth. If not I think all of us know that this is considered a rebuilding year and will be ok as long as we see the effort on the court.

By the way I would bet my first born son that more than 4 teams out of the big 12 make it. I realize the conference is a little down, but so is the Big east and big 10. Should be a very open and interesting season. GO CLONES!!!

If I were picking, I would say UNI has the best chance realistically. Alford isn't that great even when he has experienced players and can be scary bad when he doesn't. GMAC needs at least a year.

Way too early in the season to be predicting which teams will be heading to the "big dance."

Chizik: "One thing that I’d encourage our fans…I want them to be the loudest stadium in the Big 12. I don’t care…I want Jack Trice stadium to be the loudest in the Big 12 and I think that creates homefield advantage.... I want to stress to everyone…I want this place to be juiced up. They bought 36,000 season tickets so there is a passion there…don’t hide it…let it out. I want there to be a passion in the stadium."

I would say UNI has a realistic shot at making the tourney. Past history has show that the Valley will get two or more teams in the dance. I would think they have a shot at finishing in the top 2 to 4 in the Valley. I would also say that Iowa and Iowa State have a shot. Now I wouldnt say I would favor them to be in the tourney, but neither league looks particularly strong so I think they could finish in the top 1/2 of the conference.
