What was that I saw on the field today??

An offensive line??? There were holes.....actual holes. Kock was awesome and with some of those holes he was really able to get a full head of steam and run some DB's over. Meyer had all day to throw on many passes. It was good to see the line play much better. Best game of the year. But it really makes you wonder why they hadn't played better all year. Kind of frustrating. Got to give it to them though, the line is made up of mostly seniors and they went out on top.

Ryan had 179yds and two touchdowns. The line played great...I wish they played that good all year. If they had, this game would have had much MUCH more meaning

Kock looked awesome today. Wish we would have used him more throughout the season, rather than just using him in short yardage situations.

The play that sticks out in my mind from today was a run he had in the first half, running south, and he had gotten up a head of steam up about 15 yards and just plowed over one of the Mizzou DB's. The DB was all alone and you could tell he wasn't looking forward to taking Kock on one-on-one. He just kind of crouched down and waited to get run over.

Re: What was that I saw on the field today??

I agree that was a great play. The same DB that got run over made the tackle on the next play and preceeded to get up and talk smack. Um sir, you just got flattened!!!! If I were you I would shut it for the time being!

2 plays that stuck out in my mind as far as the O line goes....First was the deep out to Blythe. That play took forever to develop and Meyer had all day. Any other game and he would have been running towards the sideline.

Next play was the 4th and 2 pickup with Scales. Our line got great push on that play and there really was a good size hole to run through.

If they had played this way all year, McCarney would still be the head coach

I think it was a safety #8, what was even better was on the next play he was in on stopping Ryan for no gain and got up dancing and was all psyched like he wasn't the guy that got steamrolled the play before. He just got drilled. Then on one of Koch TD runs, did you see him run into, I think, one of our recievers hitting them with about as much force as MU #8????

Re: What was that I saw on the field today??

the line has made holes for the running backs all season long where have you been???? even stevie hicks was average 5 yard runs and he had breaks of 10 yard gains. despite that instead of sticking with the running game they ditched it fast and predictably then we had Brett Meyer play sack the Groceries with the defense.

usually had good running play then went to pass instead of 2nd and short or 3rd and short wound up 3rd or 4th and long.

that on the field was good fundamental smashmouth football.
defense looks fair when they get some breathers.

most everyones comment if they did that earlier in season would have more wins and Mac would probably still have his job.

felt like like time since I have seen ISU run the ball like that.
what was sad was Meyer actually had time to make some passes and he rushed them.

anyone think that crowd broke 30,000?

I think going on 4th down more than once, well...really made me feel good.

They made holes early on but not the past 5 games, where have YOU been? I know Stevie's ypc. But those holes today where bigger than any other hole all year and you can't tell me that was not by far, by far their best game.

I heard on the postgame show on 100.3 that supposedly 39,000 people showed up.

Probaby paid attendance (tickets sold), not actual bodies in the stadium. I was unable to attend due to vehicle issues, but my brother stated the stadium looked pretty sparse.
