A Recycled Coach like Price or Solich at ISU?

I've heard both Price & Solich's names mentioned by the media as potential candidates for the ISU job. I just can't see it if JP is doing the hiring. Price has too much baggage after his stint at Bama & Solich's record was only part of the reason he got canned at Nebraska. Personal issues played a part also. Plus since he's gone to Ohio he got an DWI.

A name I haven't heard mentioned is Gary Barnett. I lived in Colorado and the rape scandal racked that program during his last couple years. However, I'm not sure how much that was caused by Barnett's lack of oversight. IMO it was a result of the culture that exists at CU university wide and within the Boulder community.

Did Barnett have a bad reputation while he was at Northwestern? If ISU is looking for a coach with a name and has been a proven winnner- it seems to me that Barnett would be a much better choice than Solich or Price.

Barnett isn't a bad coach, but he's not the solution to our problems. He couldn't recruit kids to Colorado. He'd have an even tougher time getting them to Ames. We need someone who can recruit talent and then get great assistants to coach the hell out of them.

By no means am I endorsing Barnett, but before CU, he did turn Northwestern around, and I think their football legacy is as bad or even worse than ours...
However, I think the off-field matters at CU will haunt him for sometime, and I'd take a pass on him

We need a young fiery coach on the rise, not a sage, mature My Way, IMO. Under 50 would be nice. Younger than McC would be nice. I jyust think college football has passed many brains bye.

EIU is the other Okoboji University for serious students and home of Captain Kirk who pilots the Enterprise on its Trek through the Universe for finding his next great job. Captain, beware of your Superbowl.

Not a fan of Barnett in any way, shape or form. Might as well hire Al Davis as AD and adopt the Just win baby slogan.

"We have gone forth from our shores repeatedly over the last hundred years and we've done this as recently as the last year in Afghanistan and put wonderful young men and women at risk, many of whom have lost their lives, and we have asked for nothing except enough ground to bury them in, and otherwise we have returned home to seek our own, you know, to seek our own lives in peace, to live our own lives in peace." I really don't care who they hire. As long as he can recruit & develop players and have them be competitive on the field. But I also would like to see someone who isn't afraid to take a mere rivalry and turn in into a feud. Kind of like what Steve Spurrier does/did against Tennessee and Florida State.

I'll tell you a story, believe me it's true
a tale you'd best hope never happens to you
old spicy mcHaggis, how he met his fate
you I can save, but for him it's too late
