Re: Jon Cooper
I think he probably should have worried about not dropping punts instead of who he was going to trash talk.

I was going to make that point, but it was too easy :)
Two dropped punts in a row that one time, ugh.

College athletics, football in particular, is a BUSINESS. There are bills to be paid. Mac will do just fine with the money he has in the bank. He will live to coach another day. I think ISU made the correct BUSINESS decision.

I heard that only 3 individuals even clapped when he was done and that several donors have already pulled there annual donations. I just think it will be interesting to see the effect Mac has on our program. Hmmmmm.....if what you say is true, then Dan is not the uniter, nor taking the high road, all of the "classy" statements then are NOT the case.
I agree the new coach has to win over the Mac people, and I don't see anything wrong with that. But in saying that there is this huge divide speaks to the off the record work that Mac is doing. Excluding Jamie Pollard from post season banquets, holding the football banquet early speaks to a man saying one thing and acting completely different.

That is all well and good, but the people that are on here talking all this nonsense should never be around when we go to a REAL bowl game in 4 years. We will replace you and your money. There will be plenty to go around when we start to win on a meaningful level. When Shreveport, the 7th tier bowl that we have been informed all these years makes a top program, will not be acceptable. When we go to Dallas for the Cotton Bowl, or San Diego for the Holliday Bowl, these people that you speak of will be right there trying to take their bows.

Re: Jon Cooper
I read Baum's remarks and thought they were a bit childish. I thought the same of donors pulling their money because of Mac's resignation. Coaches come and go, but ISU remains. The Football program at ISU is a collection of all the contributions that Coaches, Players and Fans have made to our program. Mac's supporters need to take the attitude that by withdrawing their support they will actually be destroying what Coach Mac tried to instill at a University that he truly loved.
As Pollard stated, he did not want Mac to go. But BOTH he and Mac realized that Mac had to resign to further the program.
An interesting parallel would be the Biblical story of Moses. Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt and through the Wilderness for 40 years. However, Moses was NOT allowed to lead them INTO the Promised Land. Same case with Mac.

Until you find something worth dying for, you're not really living.
