Re: Deace's analysis of the search

We can all speculate about Harbaugh's ability to execute the unknowns. But one thing none of us has done is spoken to him face to face. Jamie Pollard has. If JP feels comfortable enough to hire JH after learning of his abilities and plans -a nd trust me, JP questioned every one of the abilities and plans that we have questioned - us fans should all feel DAMN comfortable with this Harbaugh fellow.

Deace is an idiot. That is all I'm going to say.

Re: Deace's analysis of the search

I thought it was pretty good analysis through the whole thing and I don't think he's as alone in his "dissent" on Harbaugh as he thinks he is.

I have no idea if Phil Bennett would be interested but I agree that he would be a great hire.

I agree with Deace. Bennett from SMU is worth taking a look at.

Of course ISUfan22 doesn't agree with Deace....

ISUfan22 has already claimed and anointed Harbaugh as HC of ISU....

    Kragthorpe
    Kelly
    Price

Is a solid top 3...Harbaugh at thie point would be a "gimmick hire"...remember this is a career defineing hire for JP. If e blows it and ISU fotball moves backwards ISU fans will be running JP out of town with pitch forks and torches. And he will find himself as Associate AD at some crappy school somewhere.....

Re: Deace's analysis of the search

It is an opinion by a guy, and people say he's an idiot just because his opinion doesn't support your opinion. All of us have an opinion and obviously there is a strong group that wants to take a chance that Harbaugh can succeed and there are others that think that someone with Division 1 experience would have a better chance. But the continuing arguments are pointless thinking that all of a sudden there will be a point made where a supporter of Kragthorpe or Kelly, etc. will all of a sudden believe that Harbaugh will be a better chance. It is all our opinions, and I put faith in JP as he knows that if the person he chooses does not succeed it will be him on the block next.

Re: Deace's analysis of the search

I've got a better comparison for Harbaugh than Alford. How about Steve Spurrier?

NFL career and after that he was a quarterbacks coach for a few seasons. Finally was an assistant coach for a short time before given his break in to the Head Coaching job at Duke. He was there for 3 seasons and compiled winning records and coached Duke to an ACC Championship before leaving for Florida in 1990 for 12 years.

Hmmmmm. When I think of Football Coaching Graveyards, Duke definitely comes to mind. Yet, Spurrier coached the Blue Devils to a Conference Championship. If Harbaugh does the same for ISU, I would imagine you could just as well punch him a ticket for Ann Arbor. But man, what a great run that would be.

By the way, the knock on Spurrier before getting the Duke job???? NO Head Coaching experience!!!

Each of these guys we have on our list are risky. It's up to Pollard to decide which risk/benefit balance is best for ISU.

ISUFan22 - It seems like no matter what Deace says, you completely disagree with him, all of the time. Just an observation...

You don't observe much then, do ya?

Are you a member of CN? Read my response to his article on the state if ISU football about 3-4 weeks ago?

    Didn't think so.

I am not a Deace fan but he nailed it on the Alfroaud analogy.

Wouldn't it be nice if we had someone like the Roland Rocket to help out with hiring a football coach? He did a pretty good job helping out the b-ball program...(forget about WM...)
