Anyone notice them jawing a little in the 1st half yesterday? I moved down from the balcony to where Cyclone Alley usually is and at one point they came down GMac was probably getting on Mike about slowing down and being smart. Mike was saying something back then I heard Mac say "that's it Mike" and motioned for Dunson to go to the scorer's table to check in. Taylor came off looking a little frustrated and Mac sat down right in front of him and started "discussing" things with him. I loved the move, Mac is on top of everything and doesn't put up with stuff like that but I also have to worry that if Taylor doesn't cut down on the turnovers soon (11 yesterday, averaging 7 a game so far) if this little thing could blow up? Just a reach there on that.
Stuff like this makes you wonder if Stinson could have played in this system because Taylor reminds me a lot of Stinson except with less strength but a better jump shot. GMac would have been doing the same thing with Stinson as he is doing with Taylor right now. The difference is I think Taylor probably has the attitude to take the criticism and improve on his mistakes. Stinson might have pouted and been a problem since Morgan basically let him do whatever he wanted.
Just some random observations but there have been some times this year (like sitting Wesley Johnson after the excessive celebration of his putback dunk) where GMac has shown he will not tolerate that kind of stuff and is not scared to sit someone to make his point. Glad we have a coach that teaches the game to be played the right way, I just hope the players realize that and instead of taking it personally they use it as motivation to improve their game to make the team better.
I know I've heard a lot about how Taylor has uncontrollable speed at some times and how GMac wants him to slow down.... its still early in the season and its early in Taylor's playing career here. Taylor will adjust and GMac will adjust to the fact that sometimes Mike is just going to fly, because I think his on court speed rivals that of Blalock's, personally.
