The fact that he's a Hawk and Huskers does not bother me one bit. That's actually kinda good, because he's a midwest guy.

What I don't like...

- He's an OC not calling plays.
- Countering the Harbaugh "he won't stay long" argument, Norvell has hopped around a ton.
- Callahan sure seemed too enthusiastic for Norvell to get a head coaching job.
- I don't see the big upside potential.

Everyone also need to get off the whole "I dont want another Iowa guy or Nebraska guy" Those are 2 very respectable and successful programs, and other then the fact that you dont like them, or they are our rivals, give me ONE good reason why we should not take people from those schools!

I already answered you in a different thread...Hayden Fry was anything but respectful towards ISU, and ISU does not need to be hiring anyone who came from Hayden's anti-ISU environment.

I agree that it does not bother me that Norvell is from the Hawk/Husker clan, it bothers me more that he just does not rub me the right way as a choice.

I would be excited if it were a Stoops or Alvarez and would immediately up my donation. This tells me I care not if he has a Hawk background.

Truth is Norvell just doesn't do it for me in any way shape or form. I was around for the Duncan, Criner, Walden eras and I am willing to bet the farm we are headed that way again with a Norvell type hire. I would rather do the risky hire in Harbaugh and hope for high return than the conservative hire in Norvell.

I think someone said it best that why fire McCarney if you are just going to hire Norvell. Doesn't make sense. I KNOW JP knows this as well and I would be FLOORED if Norvell ends up being the man. I say 99% it won't be Norvell because JP has his finger on the pulse of this and realizes he needs change to get to the next level. JP is willing to take a risk in exchange for possible high returns. If he goes with the conservative hire, I will support it short term, but my patience will probably not last very long.

I am rambling, but safe to say, Norvell does not incite enthusiasm from me and it has NOTHING to do with him being a Hawk/Husker. Stoops would get me enthused....Alvarez would get me enthused....hell, Snyder would have gotten me enthused.
