Iowa Press Conference at 4:30 PM

Just heard it on KXNO, like I am sure most of you did. Sounds like they got the Alamo. They are going to be picked over Minnesota, who finsihed with the same overall record as the Hawks, but did have a better conference record since they won the head to head against the Hawks. So will say Minnesota deserves the bid over the Hawks, but I can understand the Alamo Bowls rational for wanting to bring the Hawks in over the Gophers!

According to CNNSI, Champ Sports gets the 4th Big 10 team while the Alamo gets the 5th Big 10 team, a reversal from last year.

So Iowa in no way was chosen over Purdue, since Purdue will probably go to Champ Sports.

Yeah and more then likley playing either Mizzou or A&M. I hope its A&M personally!

I bet they win. They will hear about how bad they are and how they don't deserve to be there for the next month and they will come out ******. It really comes down to who the match up with though?

Ohh really???? I was going off last year. If this is true, I reverse my statement! They finsihed with the same overall record as Minnesota, so i have no problem with them getting the Alamo if it the 5th best bowl!

That is rediculous, my respect for college football, the bowl game system, the alamo bowl has all gone down....and of course my respect for iowa hasn't gone down....because i already had none in the first place

Why don't they just let Iowa play in the Capital One bowl, again. I mean, Iowa travels so well! Who cares what their record is! Why do they even make Iowa win football games to make a bowl. C-mon! They should just reserve a spot for Iowa every year and start booking hotel rooms early!

Actually I heard Iowa is going to the BCS championship game against Ohio State since the nation and media love them so much.......now you may think that is rediculous....oh wait so is a 2-6 conference record playing in the alamo bowl

With the excellent bowls affiliated with the Big 10, this isn't a shock that Iowa get into the Alamo. Now they get to play Missouri or A&M. Let's see how they stack up against the down Big 12.

What's sad is that a team who finished 2-6 in the conference goes to a bowl game. That should never, ever happen IMO. Ever.

No way man, if they have the 5th pick how can you loose respect? They are going to have 2 BCS teams, then the capital one, gator, and champs pick the next 3. So then it comes down to Iowa and Minnesota. The both finsihed with the same record overall, although Minnesota had a better conference record. If I was the Alamo, I would pick Iowa over Minnesota!

The Champ Sports bowl and the Insight Bowl were added to the Big Ten package this year and the Sun and Music City Bowls were dropped. Champ Sports and Alamo rotate in picking between the 4th and 5th in the Big Ten.

im not disagreeing with how the scenario came out, its still horrible that the alamo bowl wants iowa over purdue....plus i can every right to have no respect for it because the big 10 doesn't play a championship game....
