Mike Taylor = .... Who?
What former Clone does he remind us of? All that we know is he can flat out score. I would say that he is a cross between Stinson and Thigpen.
A scorer is exactly what this team needs. When we get the rafty inside scorer in hubalek back, this will be a dangerous team.
That may be the funnest ISU B-ball game I've watched since we won in Lawrence a couple years ago.

Re: Mike Taylor = .... Who?
I was thinking a skinny Ron Bayless. Just jacking it up from everywhere. -
Re: Mike Taylor = .... Who?
Someone earlier thought that he reminded him od Dedric Willoughby. He does mee too but i think Taylor handles the ball a lil better.

Re: Mike Taylor = .... Who?
He really doesn't remind me of Stinson at all. Thigpen maybe-he even wears the same number

That performance was unfreaking real. Wow!

Re: Mike Taylor = .... Who?
Taylor won the game tonight and we would have been screwed without him. With that said, he reminds me a Morgan ball, which scares me. I think he could be really good if GMac can control his urges.
But it may be that Taylor has to even when he doesn't want to... it's on his shoulders. Thus if we had a big man inside and more contribution from Clark and Co, GMac might force him to settle it down, but right now can't because there is not much else.
However, what happened to going low with the Johnsons. I thought that worked well, but we just gave up on it. I thought we would see more controlled, set styled plays being run.
I somewhat thought we would see GMac force his approach whether it produced wins or loses to make this team better in the long
run.
I am honestly confused right now and not sure what to think.
But very glad to see the win, the team enjoying the game, and the attitude to fight to the end.

Re: Mike Taylor = .... Who?
Dedric, no doubt about it.
-
Re: Mike Taylor = .... Who?
Bayless - not bad, but I thought a little more like Willoughby.
-
Re: Mike Taylor = .... Who?
Thigpen, Thigpen, Thigpen, who also lit it up at Minnesota.

Nice way of saying what we're all probably thinking, Taylor does shoot the ball too much. Can't complain about the performance in the second half, but he kept throwing up bricks in the first half when the shot wasn't falling.
Clark was a highlight reel tonight, 11 boards and a couple sweet dunks.

Re: Mike Taylor = .... Who?
Seriously, I swear this message board finds something to gripe about everything. Taylor lit it up and when you are shooting like him you keep getting him the ball and keep shooting. Complaining that he may be shooting too much is just plain ignorant. Just be thankful that we have guards who can outscore the big men that are ripping our big guys a new one.

Re: Mike Taylor = .... Who?
Looked like Dedric to me, Dedric used to always energize the defense, Taylor was doing that tonight as well as lighting it up from the floor.

However, I'm pretty sure he also had a critical assist down to Gray towards the end there. -

Clark was a highlight reel tonight, 11 boards and a couple sweet dunks. And if he stopped taking those shots, we would have lost. Hmmm
Willoughby had some 2-11 shooting nights. It wasn't like he was doing it every night.
Taylor played much more under control than he has even with the 6 turnovers. He rarely got himself into trouble in the paint like other games.
As for the running the offense and posting up, Minny kind of figured us out late in teh first half and starting the second half. Taylor hit a couple threes in transition and GMac decided to ride that pony to the end. Everything centered around Taylor. I don't think he had many turnovers in the last three minutes. He didn't take any real bad three pointers. Sure, if he hadn't hit any and went 0-9, they would be bad shots, but you've got to ride the hot hand. And he found open guys when he didn't have the shot. His five assists led to at least 12 points (2 of them were threes, maybe 3?).
