People on the MSU message boards are saying Kelly is their guy...

and will be named head coach on Dec. 1. Other posters claimed he was using us for leverage with MSU. Personally, I'll be disappointed if we chose to dump Harbaugh for Kelly.

I like what Harbaugh brings to the table and really felt when JP dumped him that we must be looking at someone like Price or Patterson, who have both won at major D-1 schools. Is Kelly a better choice than these two guys?

I would love to see Kelly go to MSU. He could win here, but he would top out at a DMac level. I see Harbaugh as winning as much as DMac, with the chance that he could win bigger.

My head hurts from trying to predict what JP is thinking. I think it could be Kelly, yet I wouldn't be surprised if it was still someone else.

Is Kelly better than Price or Patterson? I would say no based on what Price and Patterson have done at the highest levels. However, I think Kelly might have more potential than Price or Patterson

Kelly....YAWN!! We need a catalyst to get this thing rolling. I don’t see the spark in Kelly? Central Michigan? I don't see that drawing in any excitement or recruits. I hope JP has another Ace in this pocket...I'd rather have Mark Farley from UNI than Kelly.

There is no way we told Harbaugh he is off the list unless we had someone in the bag, and I do not think that was ever Kelly but it might be. We do not know and nobody does for sure.

I hope we are all surprised in this one, and not with a Kelly hire.

From what I've seen, most from MSU are less than thrilled with the prospect of getting Kelly. Amazed they'd fire Crazy John for Kelly. Sounds somewhat familiar.

Interesting link Wheels. What's troubling is that we are REPORTEDLY after him (although one never knows), yet the link indicates that some didn't think he had enough experience to coach in the Big 10. Uh...but sure, we'll take him. JP better know what he's doing.

I don't understand how people can just say, "Kelly would top out at a DMac level"...what in the world are you basing that on? Do you know Brian Kelly? Have you followed his career? Do you somehow have a special power that nobody else on here has to see into the future? The fact is you have no idea. I seem to remember a bunch of people in eastern Iowa that were very upset when their favorite team passed on Bob Stoops for little known Kirk Ferentz-an Orange Bowl, and 2 more January 1st bowls later and he is one of the highest paid coaches in America. (Granted I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing his team drop five in a row heading into their bowl game)

I agree with you Clone but you have one error, Iowa did not pass on Stoops, Stoops passed on Iowa.

You are right...forgot about that...what I do believe is that Jamie Pollard has and will continue to evaluate every single aspect and every single advantage and disadvantage of each candidate and do what is best for ISU...whether that be to hire a little known guy or a big name guy...we will not know whether it was the right decision for another three to five years, and to pretend we do is crazy and unfair to the new coach, who if it is indeed Kelly, has done nothing wrong to deserve criticism from us.

This is from an OLD blog and out of date. Check the date of the blog and article, the blog is from Nov 4 and the article from Nov 3. It is really outdated info. More recent info - Kelly now appears to be the leading candidate at MSU.
