I find it funny how you all can be so certain Kelly is the hire and go dooms day about it. The truth is that none of us know who the next coach is and if you want to condemn Pollard before you even know who the coach is then Im worried.

Yeah. No matter who it is... we'll all have to wait and see what happens with the hire. Doomsaying is unnecessary. People were doing that when Morgan was fired, and then GMac was hired... And no, I'm not trying to compare the two situations, but people are reacting similarly.

So no more doomsayers, please. You can be upset or disappointed all you want, just no doom-and-gloom.

It will not be career suicide for Pollard, D Mac was a great person, but was not getting the job done "coaching" wise, that includes hiring assistants, game management, etc.

Pollard had no choice, he didn't fire him, he asked him to resign and he did...

Actually in my Lifetime the list reads like this: Clay Stapleton, John Majors, Earle Bruce, Donnie Duncan, Jim Criner, Jim Walden, Dan McCarney in that order.

This is the most important hire in JP's lifetime. If Jamie gets this wrong he is done within five years and ISU will move to finally hire an AD and HC who can win us a big 12 conference championship.

Bash Ferentz all you want, but he took a program that barely had a pulse when Fry left to a program that enjoyed one heck of a three year run and has a young group of highly touted recruits to show for it. Weak teams or not, you have to be doing something right to have 3 straight 10 win seasons. I'd take a guy like that to lead ISU in a heartbeat.

This entire post, top to bottom is ridiculous. It's funny that you think him to be an average coach, but those who actually make a living doing it think he's one of the best coaches in the country. If he wanted an NFL job, he'd have it tomorrow. But you, you think he was an average O-line coach in the NFL and think the same now.

It's hard not to beat everyone in that conference? Wow!

Jealous much or just so jaded against the Hawks that you can't think rationally.

Several people are talking like Brian Kelley is well known for turning around programs and being a recruiter/winner. Well, he's only been with 2 programs. And Central Michigan had 27 commitments and was ranked the No. 103 recruiting class in the country for 2006. How am I supposed to get thrilled about that?

Anything could be career suicide. Coming to ISU could be. Hiring Sanderson may end blow up in his face. Bringing in G-Mac could mar his stay at ISU. As could the football program.

I'd like us to allow him to hire his guy and give that guy at least a few years before we get out our measuring tapes.

I completely agree as I stated the same thing in another post too. This is only my opinion, but it seems that maybe the true cyclone fans will be open arms and support anything cyclone related. And until proven otherwise, will continue being the cyclone fans we should be.

This is a message board, but those type of comments need to be kept to yourself. A lot of people out in the world would take offense to that. And Im sorry, no cyclone fan would make a comment on somone of their own like that. I didnt care for Bruce Vander Velde(?), but i sure would not make that comment about him.

For 'cripes sake, this is a MAC school. You're expecting them to be landing all sorts of big-time recruits? "Oh please Mr. Five-star recruit! Don't go to Michigan or Ohio State, where you might win a national title!"

These teams have to feast off the leftovers that slip by Notre Dame, Michigan, OSU, and the rest of the Big 10. Go to Scout or Rivals and look at the recruiting classes of some of the other MAC schools. How many four-star players do you see? One? Two? None at all? The best these teams are doing are getting the occasional three-star recruit that slips through the cracks. They're taking these two-star players and developing them, and they're actually competing against some of these big-time schools. We nearly got beat by a Toledo team of two-star recruits.

Why Would Pollard Return to Wisky?

Pollard doesn't strike me as a sit back and enjoy the ride AD. That's what he'd return to at Wisconsin. They sell out their FB stadium, they just finished adding suites, the Kohl Center is brand new. IMO Pollard would find that a boring job.

He has a vision for ISU athletics and IMO he won't move on until he sees that vision through to fruition.

I hope he doesn't leave us. at the very least he isn't afraid to shake things up and get some publicity out about us. if he leaves i don't think the stadium ever gets done.

If Pollard wants to go back to wisconsin, I'll buy him a bus ticket. As divided as the cyclone fan base is right now, I don't see the stadium getting done as long as Pollard is here, Unless he gets lucky and a great football coach falls into his lap like a basketball one did.
