I agree that Taggert didn't perform up to his expectations and he did seem lazy at time but if he is so overrated why would a major school like Memphis offer him a scholarship??

That was a terribly written article...makes ISU look horrible.
[/quote1146853504]

Well it was written by someone with ties to Memphis... it's much more crowd-pleasing to write the article from a "Just didn't reach his potential at ISU" perspective. The "Maybe this guy is overrated" angle doesn't sell to many newspapers or tickets.

lol, right on Bryce... it's their fans having their hopes about a new recruit...
the thing I like about our recruits... we have guys coming in from teams that didn't know how to lose... who made big contributions to their former teams and their former teams will miss them and their contributions.

I'm glad I am not from Memphis trying to get excited over a guy that had a sub par year. But, as for wishing him the best of luck... I can only say hopefully their coach is exactly like McD and works Taggart like no other and then he might be a star. But if the only work he does there is what he did here... all I can say to people from Memphis... what else do you expect to get at a garage sale?

This is much like Nebraska and Scott Spinelli who recruited most of the Huskers left at UNL singlehandedly. Many of those players are leaving because they werte only comfortable with Spinella. It is almost like these big recruiter coaches (including WM) are like Dads to their players. Sounds like Shawn, fernald and other swere very comfortable with WM approach to life and do not want to participate in the regime change. Sail la V.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style.

how about the quote in today's memphis article............

Taggart said he met with McDermott only twice, and that the two never bonded.

"I said a curse word in the gym, and he told me that wasn't allowed," Taggart said. "I was like, 'I've got to get out of here.'" <span style="color:#00ff00"> </span>

that is a stupid comment. I am sure that Mt. Zion lost a ton when taggs was there. and by the way, fans getting their hopes up too high about recruits, does that sound familiar? At least memphis is getting their hopes up about a highly ranked player with offers from several high major schools. Some of you are insanely overjoyed over a couple of guys who were going to a minor or planning on going to juco.

BTW if Mcd gets all ****** about a player swearing we will never, ever be an even decent team again. players I have seen/heard swear; jordan, labron, shaq, kobe, ai, and basically any other player that played since 1950

Unless you are discombobulated, or someone who enjoy's reading posts about discombobulated possibly misinterpreting a friendly comment and then being a jerk about it because he thought it was ripping on Taggart so the person he was a jerk to responded in an attempt to make discombobulated realize that his reply addressed something that was never said and pointless... then you shouldn't bother reading this post:

[quote1147014758=discombobulated]

I know you don't like it when people make personal attacks discombobulated. So thanks for the one toward me. I appreciate it. I don't mind if you disagree with me, But I am glad you think what I say is stupid, and the time you said I obviously have no clue what leadership is.

And you know what, If you truely do read what people say on here... You'd see that I've been hoping that Taggart would come back, I prolly posted that close to once a day. I think he has potential to be great due to the fact that he was only a freshman. And I know that Taggart was missed when he left Mt. Zion. And yes, ISU did get high hopes about him coming here.

I was replying to Bryce's reply, who was replying to ISU11's, I think, that mentioned that the article in discussion really makes ISU look bad. And I don't think there's anything wrong with getting your hopes up about a recruit, and I never said anything about Memphis getting their hopes up "too" high. It's a good thing, I'd rather enjoy life and be excited about the players coming to ISU than hate the world and argue with everyone that our players aren't going to be good (not that I am accusing you of doing this so please don't quote this and say that I am making an assumption about your personality, I'm sure your friends and family vouch you are a wonderful person). And I think Memphis fans should get excited about Taggart, they don't need to bash ISU in the process, but yes, let them get excited about Tags.

AllI did was point out a fact that, over the past year, we have at least three guys coming in whose teams either never lost or hardly lost. Taggart's team went just over even. So, I formed an opinion that the guys I'm getting excited over, don't know how to lose (meaning they won't be happy if they do worse than they did their previous year) and the guy Memphis is getting excited over knows what it's like to not be on top (meaning that he's used to having a decent number of losses and may not be as upset when his team loses a game). REMEMBER, it's an opinion. You've got to realize that not everybody who posts on here is saying something negative like some people do (again, I'm not saying you do this, I'll let you decide if you feel you are part of that group or not). I wish Taggart good luck.

And you probably assumed that I meant Taggart's team and fans will not miss him and his contributions. Maybe you didn't, but then I don't know why you posted your response. If you did, I suggest you re-read what I wrote. However, I will add that personally, I will not miss Taggart's contributions to our team, as they weren't much in my opinion, but I would have loved to see him come back and try to give us better contributions than last year.

Finally, I will restate what you think was a stupid comment, in different words that hopefully you won't misread, but still means exactly the same thing:

Taggert's fans are excited for him. I am excited for our recruits as many of them came from teams that lose very seldom. Their teams will miss them and their contributions very much.

And before you get upset at somebody else for personally attacking you as you have in the past, make sure you don't do it to others first.

If this is true, I now appoligize for what I just wrote about you. I didn't realize that you have basically seen every player who has played since 1950. That amazes me and I cannot discredit anything you say if you have truely seen that much basketball.

Props to the person who slipped the Chuck Norris joke in this thread!

Yeah I wish he would have stuck it out as well, I liked his potential, however potential only gets you so far. Anyway best of luck to him in the future.

Re: Story on Taggart transferring to Memphis

This is funny..
Anyway I agree that he is they most overrated recruit we have ever had. Other than a decent shot, he couldn't do crap. I can name plenty of ISU freshman that had better 1st years than Tags did.
Good Luck and see ya.
Make sure you don't call the charge. But make sure you call the foul on the scrum....
