A lot of you think the whole world revolves around your team and don't tell me I'm wrong or you have been living is the DM area too long. I always get strange looks when I say I don't care about the huskers but live there and they get stranger when I say I'm a ISU fan. It is inconceivable to some people that all people cannot be husker fans here in nebr. It's like not being good and having a good tradition is not enough, you have to have the praise and recognition of how good you are from other people that don't care. I agree. But it doesn't mean that ISU aren't too ISU centric. That's a problem with all fans of all teams. They can't see the forest through the trees sort of thing. It's a general problem with society right now in general. People don't want to take the time to investigate the other side. People would rather stick to their preconcieved stereotypes and feel safe.

I love to watch the weather on channel 7 and see an Florida State grad go through the whole "paint it red, baby" routine for the nebr football forecast. Both home and away! Love knowing the forecast for Stillwater..... But seriously, most husker fans are pretty nice, they just take it a little far sometimes.

That being said, it is rather amusing to see Nebraska fans accuse anyone else of wearing the home-team colored glasses. Pot, I'd like you to meet Kettle. Nebraska would rather go Phoenix Fiesta than Dallas Cotton at this point. Do they paint locker room pink in Lincoln for their opponents?
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

I wasn't taking exception to what you said at all, and you were most certainly right with your prediction for this season. I thought ISU would go 7-5 but that was assuming our touted offensive line would be more than cardboard cutouts of Larry Allen.
Garn has posted on this board for a long time and has wondered why he's been shouted down before. Well it's because he comes on and makes arrogant remarks about the NU program for no other point than to talk smack. There is a reason why this board is the only board I post on, because it is (thankfully) relativly smack free. This is exactly why do not like Nebraska. Trev Alberts saying that there is "no way" we will beat Nebraska in 2002. Let's face it, they are on the rise, but the mystique is gone.
Also, I understand what you are saying somewhat...but how can I be too ISU-centric? Why would I care what Baylor is doing, we don't even play them next year. My knowledge of their recruiting class isn't going to make a bit of difference about what happens on the field. I like watching the games and commenting on them, and taking a look at stats afterward to gauge how good the team is. I don't think this makes me a bad fan at all. What arrogant remarks are those? I've backed up my smack with facts, stats, and links. Like I've said before, if you as Iowa St fans want to run with the big boys, you have to get used and accept the smack. It's that way here with Iowa & Iowa St. I don't give a rip about Iowa, I bet I haven't seen one full Iowa game all season and they only reason why I care/follow Iowa St is they are a conference rival. I get strange looks here all the time as well when people find out i'm a Nebraska fan. Their response is "move".

Re: Old School
garn, I welcome an outside opinion, it adds to the board. Yet you continue to fill the site with the holier-than-thou Nebraska rhetoric.
If you want to win friends and influence people, begin in a friendly way. Frequently reminding us of what the Huskers are doing this year isn't the best route, IMO.

Re: Old School
I enjoy some friendly debate as much as the next guy. I also enjoy running, with the big boys.

Where's the stats, facts, and links in that? It's useless tripe smack talk, and any high school team can do that, it doesn't have anything do with the big boys.

Re: Old School
To illustrate the Husker mentality, check out this clip. For someone to go to the effort of making this vid to mock the comments of an opposing coach says a lot, IMO.

Re: Old School
We need to remember that we're all Cyclone "fans", but it doesn't define us. NU "fans" are defined by Cornhusker football. It's what they base their identity and self-esteem on. This is why they appear smug when NU is winning.
