Budget Issue
I don't want to throw water on the fire but I hope our new coach realizes we don't have Texas money, since our athletic budget ranks 11th in the Big XII. Good job Jamie.

Re: Budget Issue
hopefully this hire makes cyclone fans get a little looser with their pocketbooks.

Re: Budget Issue
Leg, this probably isn't the proper thread to say it, but great scoop about Pollard saying what he said at the Bobby Douglas get-together. That started a domino effect, so yeah...mad kudos and rep points to you!

Re: Budget Issue
the biggest issue will remain $$$ for assistant coaches...if we can afford good ones this experience will be much better than if we blew our whole allowance on Chizik

Re: Budget Issue
im still amazed that our budget is smaller than that of kansas and baylor and we still have aspirations of Big XII North supremecy.
donors and alum alike have to shell out more if we wanna get there. Pollard's done his part. its now up to us.

Re: Budget Issue
I have a feeling that financial topics were covered during the interview process.

Re: Budget Issue
he gets 1.5 mil for assistants.
-
Re: Budget Issue
If this is true I think it is a big upgrade -- Cotton and Skladany were each making $200k, so I can't imagine the others combined got $1.1mm.

Re: Budget Issue
I just read that in the press release......1.5 mil, 3rd best assistant compensation package in the Big 12. I think that answers 90% of remaining questions about where ISU is heading. What an awesome commitment that has been made to Iowa State football and it's fans. I have alway bought tickets on a game by game basis because I work a lot of Saturdays, but next year it is season tickets all the way, whether I use them all or not. It's up to Cyclone fans to put their money where their mouths are now. -

Actually it is last and we actually have as many teams in our conference as we advertise, so we are 12 of 12.
I am with Leg, loose pocketbooks are needed. In addition the stadium improvements will add seating. The kicker will be upping season ticket sales from 30,000 to the 45-50k range. That is a lot of extra dough to throw around.
He sounded great in the presser, I'm very excited and optimistic!
When I told the folks back home I was going to Auchtermuchty, they said "Wear the Fox Hat" -

That makes two of us. I live in MN, so I have been reluctant to buy season tickets to-date. But, that all changes today. I want us to compete, so I'm gonna do my part too. The 3 hour drive will be well worth it!
Next year will be my first year as a season ticket holder for Iowa State Football....the first of many!
Is it August yet?

Re: Budget Issue
No more talk of "we can't afford what other schools pay" I'm sure the coaches salaries alone are going to make our annual football budget leapfrog other B12 schools.
-Coach/asst. pay
-Facilities (offices, training, etc)
-One of the BEST indoor practice facilities in the nation. Period.
-Attitude/desire to win.
Jack Trice needs work, but it is not the worst stadium around.
IMO this hiring alone (even if it doesn't pan out) is a signal of new times for ISU athletics. Shockwaves are being felt in Lincoln, Manhattan, Boulder, Lawrence, Columbia, and Iowa City over this hire.

Re: Budget Issue
Jon Miller was obviously impressed by the hiring, but hoped to dampen some of "our" expectations........for the sake of our new coach of course! -
Re: Budget Issue
I'm an '88 grad who's had season tickets for probably 5 of my 18 adult years......but haven't had them for the last 2 years. Sign me up for 4 tickets.....just don't tell my wife.
