Re: Jamie lays out the gaunlet
My wife and I have been getting season tickets for the past 5 years and have also been members of the NCC. We're planning on upping our contribution this year to at least the Cardinal level. We're also working on some older ISU grads we know in our area to pony up and buy tickets.
As a side note, we live in the Iowa City area. Pretty tough to be a Cyclone fan at times but definitely makes it sweeter during the good times. I'm surprised at the number of ISU license plates I'm seeing these days in town. A few years back you'd be hard pressed to find one (besides ours) other in town. I really think with a little sustained success the "closet" Cyclone fans will rise up!

How do you know the palin Jane days are gone? I love the hire but GC hasn't coached a game yet.

The infrastructure is in place to succeed, and now it's time to step up to the bar and buy SEASON tickets, not just single game tickets, and give money (or more money) to the NCC.
Some ISU fans have whined for years that "we don't pay our assistants enough" or "we don't have the facilities" or whatever. Well ladies and gentlemen, those days are OVER. Are we willing to give more money and buy more tickets, talk our neighbors and friends into buying tickets, or buy more tickets than we really need and give them to people to get them sold on ISU football, so we can finish the south end zone, and have 50,000 at JTS on a regular basis?
The ball is in our hands, and I for one am on board. I moved up one level in the NCC and I am buying 4 tickets next year, even though it's just my wife and me at home.
Who's with me? I appreciate your post. The question I have is where is all of those 60,000 Alums in central iowa? Why dont they buy season tickets? I have two of these alums living next to me and they will tell you that they dont go to the games because ISU cant either win enough games or ISU cant beat the Hawks!
I think that Clone fans are the greatest but I will tell ya that Jamie has his hands full with the Alumni base who wont support the football program! -

I bought my ISU plates last year and have always wondered if the University got a cut of the money from them-anyone know?

I think that Clone fans are the greatest but I will tell ya that Jamie has his hands full with the Alumni base who wont support the football program! You're 100% right. Of the other couples I go to games with, my wife went to Iowa, another guy's wife went to UNI (we both went to ISU) and the other couple both under-grad'ed at ISU. That's 33% of our ticket holders NOT being ISU grads. I should add that my inlaws are season ticket holders and both ISU grads, so make that 25% non-alums. I'd wager that isn't uncommon for most groups - that only one spouse is an alum. So what do you think is the actual number of season ticket holding alumni? Of 30K, maybe 20-25?
Pretty sad to have so many alums and so little support. I work with a couple of guys who will critique and complain, and haven't attended a game or wrote a check in years - if ever.
