I have an extreme disdain for Northern Iowa basketball. Never liked McDermott when he was there, and for whatever reason, Panther fans think they are entitled to something. They aren't.
I think the spread is fair. UNI is good, no doubt about it. I wonder what happened against South Dakota St? That game was a lot closer than it should have been. I think it will go down to the wire. Stout and Coleman could have field days. I think our length and quickness at the guard are going to give them problems. I think our quickness in the post will help us to crash the O boards and help some on D. I could see Clark on Coleman which would help us out. We don't have a zone this year for them to pick apart. I look for Dodie, Wesley, Corey (squared) and Jessan to really step it up tonight. Clark is slowly picking up the offense, but he is always rebounding. I look for him to have a double-double tonight.
Spread is fair. I still believe UNI is the best team in the state right now.We haven't showed much against anyone good. Minnesota is a good name, but they are really down. UNI took a good Washington team late before finally losing. We'll have to play our best ball for the entire game to win. Another long scoring drought and they are capable of burying us.
not only are we bring fans, we're bring 100s of cyclone alley screaming fans! not worried at all about tonight!
Tony Meija from www.cbssportsline.com has UNI predicted to beat us with a score of 81-63
He obviously just pulled those out of his @$$ because its more than likley gonna be scores in the 50s or 60s and maybe 70s.....and it will be closer than 18 points for sure
I think the spread is pretty fair. Eventually, ISU is going to run into a team that can gameplan to take Taylor out of the offense, and the big question mark is who will step in to make up for that? There are some players with the ability to step in and do that, but can they when they need to? As long as everyone keeps in mind how many new players we have, we'll be fine.
I will be somewhat disappointed if we don't win, so I will say 7.5 is off. Figured it would be in that 3.5-5 range. UNI isn't the team they have been the last few years IMO. Plus Jiri is back, which should help take some offensive pressure of Taylor. It seems like past teams have overlooked UNI, but with GMAC here, that's never going to happen. Can't wait to watch this one, should be interesting.
I thought the 5.5 Minnesota spread was right on. But 7.5 to UNI I think is a little high since we have proven we will show up on the road. Glad to see that UNI is getting respect and I do think they should be favored by a couple, but I would certainly take ISU on a 7.5 spread.
No way will UNI score 81 points on us. Both teams run more of a slowdown offense that's not dependent on the fast break a la Morganball. I wouldn't be surprised if neither team breaks 60 points.
Never listen to national sports analysts when it comes to a game involving two Iowa teams. They don't bother doing any research outside of seeing that Stinson/Blalock are gone and UNI was good last year.
Coleman and Stout will eat our bigs for dinner. UNI by 15. The bigs need to get spanked, it will make them more receptive to coaching.
I also think it's a pretty fair spread. While we are undefeated, we haven't beaten anyone (Minnesota is really down this year). Having Jubalek back should be a help, but I think UNI will definitely will be ready to play considering the circumstances. No matter what the outcome tonight, I think we'll know a lot more about our team after the game.
Go Clones!!
whats the specs on UNI's starting 5 as in height and weight ect.
We need Wes and Rahshon to have a big game rebounding to win this one. Taylor will chip in 18... Rahshon will need ... Jiri will be much needed... but will struggle... We need our athletic rebounders to beat UNI to the loose ball. I'd also like to see McIntosh have his break out game... as a lot of focus will be on Taylor, maybe CMac can free himself up to take somebody on the dribble. Dodie will step in to hit a couple threes for us as well. But yeah... this will be a game of many three point shots.
