UNI favored by 7.5 - Thoughts?

On the UNI starting line-up:

It's been in flux a little bit. McKowen, Stout, and Coleman are obviously fixtures but they are having trouble finding guys to fill the other roles that Crawford and Jacobsen filled last year. If you take a look at the box scores, they have been mixing it up a little bit, and the other players outside of the big three all play between 18-20 mpg. They mix it up a little bit.

But if you were wondering, yes, we have a huge size advantage.

Here is who they are starting:

Eric Coleman C 6-6 240
Grant Stout F 6-8 240
Travis Brown G 6-3 195
Brooks McKowen G 6-2 195
Jared Josten G 5-11 175

We have a several inch advantage (which only gets bigger if W. Johnson plays some of the 2 and 3) at every position. Of course, have a lot of other teams who have played the Panthers and lost.

One thing though, Coleman and Stout are both 240 pounds, so they will probably bulldog our guys a little bit down low. As with most teams in the McD mold, they also don't foul, so don't expect any foulouts.

On a side note, Josten could be the only guy McIntosh will be bigger than all year. Good times!

BTW, I expect Taylor to be guarded by Josten. It seems that UNI has put McKowen on the PG for most of the year...and Josten on the 2-guard.

Tony Meija from www.cbssportsline.com has UNI predicted to beat us with a score of 81-63

He obviously just pulled those out of his @$$ because its more than likley gonna be scores in the 50s or 60s and maybe 70s.....and it will be closer than 18 points for sure

I'd be disappointed if we lost by double digits, and really disappointed if we gave up 81 points.

I don't mind the spread, and think we have a good shot at winning, in which case my $10 pays out $28.

If we can actually get some play out of Marsden, and Jiri comes back and plays well, we have a better chance than people think. We have a huge advantage in height, now if we can only use it and be productive.

I think MVC is getting some much-deserved respect this year after last years tourney runs. Whicita State, So. Illinois, Mizzou State, Bradley and Creighten are all recieving votes in the AP.

I think UNI covers without much problem. A lot of casual fans are excited that we're undefeated but let's be honest, the only "name" school we've played is pretty bad and just lost to Marist. UNI went to Washington and played real tough and if not for home-cooking would've won the game. Bottom line, they're a good team and although it may upset some kool-aid drinkers, we're not. Taylor may have a tough night with attention he'll draw. I expect perhaps 12-18 points out of him, but also at least 6-8 turnovers.

I am a little offended by your "kool-aid drinkers" reference. I think we are 10 times the team that we were last year. Last year all we fielded was 5 individuals on the court. I thought Clark and Marsden tried to play team ball, but the others were out for themselves. So I think we are a good "team" this year. Just because I like watching this team play, it doesn't make me a "kool-aid drinker"
