Re: ISU offense
Thank heavens for Gray...I thought he played decent on the defensive end against Coleman.

Re: ISU offense

Re: ISU offense
Interesting stat - field goal 33% 3 pt field goals 42%. Also, Taylor had been a major offensive force about 20 ppg; tonight 5 pts. Even so, the scoring was balanced with 4 scorers in double digits, just low double digits. This is Jiri's first game back and he was against a heavier man who I've been told is quite good. Jiri was 4-18 and 2-4 from 3 pt range. Yes, the inside game needs work. I suspect Mac knows that and we trust he will fix it, in time; at least as far as current roster can go.

Re: ISU offense
Jiri was terrible tonight. He played close to the basket in the 2 exhibition games and did ok. Tonight he maybe took 4 shots inside 10 feet it seemed like. We don't need him chucking up 3's and long jumpers. Honestly I have been impressed with Gray the past 2 games and if he keeps this up he should start. He seems to "get it" and has really come along with his post scoring and knows when and when not to put up a 3. Jiri still has not seen a shot he did not like. He reminds me of that Ivan guy in the movie Eddie. "Jiri make basket!"

Re: ISU offense
there were a couple F bombs and some other stuff comin out of his mouth before they noticed. cant blame him, he did get elbowed in the junk.

Re: ISU offense
I think folks need to lay of Juri. It was his first game really under the G-Mac system not counting the exhibition games. Everyone else has played 6 more games, with exception to Mike Taylor.
I thought he looked ok. I'll grade him after another week or so.

Re: ISU offense
You are right. I just wish that Jiri had remembered this and deferred to his teammates who had the 6 games under their belt. He forced his game, flat out simple.

Re: ISU offense
My issue is that Cory Johnson has been the best post player all season and he really didn't see much time at all.
I liked how they played defense (especially Gray) but they need to slow it down like they did early in the season. Experience and UNI's ability to not rush shots was the difference tonight. A fast paced offense works to get yourself back in the game but its really hard to sustain.

Taylor has been the offense over the first few games, and teams will take him out of the game sometimes with face guarding or box and one. I am sure GMAC is working to make the offense more versatile.
So we went to the Dome, and Mike was option one amnd Jiri was option two. Not always a recipe for success. When we have people who have 40 inch verticals I expect more shots from them whther forced or not. Need leaders on offense in the worst way besides pump and gun shooters.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style.
