I'm Upset, but NOT WORRIED...
because let's face it, UNI knew this offense so much better than us it's not even funny. Combine that with the fact that we don't have a low post presense, not many of Jiri's zillion shots were falling (although I really do think he's a good shooter), UNI was able to effectively limit MikeT, the whistles were DEFINITELY not going our way, McCowen plays out of his freaking mind (somehow), and Gmac had to have a lot of emotions going through him which had to make it difficult. Not to mention playing in the UNI dome flat out sucks for opponents.
Anyway, we'll bounce back, we'll play well this weekend. As for the rest of the season, we WILL be inconsistent. Once Gmac's system truly starts sinking in, I think we'll REALLY be a fun to team watch. Until then, look for a lot of ups and downs.... but boy is this ride going to be fun! A lot of good years await ISU bball, even though tonights game sucked.

Good point, going to be fun to watch this team in a couple of years!

Re: I'm Upset, but NOT WORRIED...
This was not surprising. We have little discipline on offense. We looked like the football oline on offense: stodgy, stoic, and cannot block to save grandma. Our defense is lightyears beyond last year. So what do you want: offense or defense? Can't we have both at the same time. Maybe next year.

Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

Well, the rose colored glasses are off. We all are aware this team would have a way to go. Hold on for the ride, it will be fun. Just keep up the effort. I still lik'em.

I said I would even go this far to say UNI would beat us by 10. but not more. I think we hanged tough, could have played better at times - but folks, lets face it - UNI IS THE BEST TEAM IN IOWA.. I WILL ROOT FOR THEM THIS ENTIRE SEASON!!

Re: I'm Upset, but NOT WORRIED...
I think this lose is more like a win. It might not be a 'W' in the score books, but UNI was able to show us our weaknesses. Plus, UNI has been doing the same offence for 5 years now...they are bound to know how to play GMac. I feel this team is going to play well the rest of the season. Ohio State, and Bradley are going to be trouble, but until we get the the Big 12 play, we should be ok.

Re: I'm Upset, but NOT WORRIED...
If we are going to loose to an in-state rival, I would rather it be to UNI. They are a good team that will go far. Now just we need to bounce back and take it to the dogs and the sqwaks!

I think most of us saw this coming. We we're just hoping for a little luck. We didn't get any.

Re: I'm Upset, but NOT WORRIED...
You can credit some of the poor shooting on the dome itself. It is very different from any other gym. Depth perception is way off. Just look at the last two times we have played there, we shot crappy both times. That works out in UNI's favor since they have better bigs. A better frontcourt will do wonders better than a good backcourt. A 3-ball is different there, a lay up is not.

I think we played a good game. You have to realize UNI took 15 ranked Washington to the wire at Washington. We were in the game until the final minutes so I am not worried. I did not expect much this year anyway.

We shot well from 3-point range last night (42%) and horribly inside the three-point line (29%). The real key to this game was that they shot 26 free-throws and we shot 8. It's been the case most of the season, we just aren't attacking the rim and getting to the foul line. We settle for jumpers and when they don't go in we are going to struggle.

Re: I'm Upset, but NOT WORRIED...
We have to also consider the fact that the UNI players for the most part have been playing together for 3 or 4 years now. Our team has been together for 5 months, maybe, so for them to hang close at a tough environment was a good thing. I also would like to see us attack the rim more, especially with the athleticism some of our guys have, but i think we all need to be patient and enjoy the show these guys are going to give us.

16 Free throws for the kitties in the first half....yep the officials were excellent.

Re: I'm Upset, but NOT WORRIED...
UNI did something unique....the drove the lane and created fouls.
We failed to pick up on this unique basketball tactic.
If we're going to continue shooting the ball from longer ranges, teams will shoot more free-throws than we do game in and game out.
