I've been addicted to Boulevard, not willing to deviate from this wonderful substance.
Our trip to Colorado forced me to do so. Not only because CO has some great beers, but Boulevard is not in their arsenal.
While out there, I discovered a beer that was right under my nose in Iowa - Modelo. Love the stuff...not cheap - but I can't get enough of it. Not a true wheat beer from what I understand, but it is very smooth.
So, wheat beer (and similar types) drinkers - what's your favorite?

Sunshine Wheat is one of the best out here, but it still sucks that we don't have Boulevard.

It was good, I had it at the Downtown Aquarium. I liked the wheat beer that the Denver Chop House brews a little better than the Sunshine Wheat though.

Sunshine Wheat!!!!! If you haven't had it, you gotta try. Another local I like is Easy Street Wheat.
Blue Moon is a wheat but I don't like it.
There are some excellent authentic German Hefe beers you can try.
Paulaner Hefe
Hacker Pschorr Hefe
Franziskaner (my absolute favorite)
If you haven't been to the Hessen Haus in Des Moines, check it out. All the great german wheats are on tap. Mmmm..

It hard to find, but when you can get it on tap, it's the best beer I've ever had. In colorado, i've only found it available at Westphalen Hauf.

medolo special? or dark?
Medolo special has replaced my Coronas. It is THAT good.
frozen mug and a lime... fantastic. Or while in a swim up bar, cool to warm with a lime is excellent!!

So, wheat beer (and similar types) drinkers - what's your favorite? My wife & I are Boulevard lovers as well. Did you know Modelo is a Mexican beer? Puts Corona to shame. Lately, I've been trying a wide variety of beers thanks to Hy-Vee's mix & match 6-packs. For around $9, I can select from 100 or so different imports and sample beers I wouldn't usually buy. Gotta love it!
(By the way, the darker, more full-textured the beer - the better!)

Just when I think you can't get any dumber, you go and start a thread about wheat beers...
AND TOTALLY REDEEM YOURSELF!
I love wheat beers, but I'm a beer slut-- I love them all! The German yeast wheats listed above are especially tasty. Maybe a future Fanatic outing should be to Hessen Haus!
