Re: Texas to the Alamo Bowl??

I try to be fair and unbiases concerning Hawkeyes in my analysis, but I don't know how anyone thinks Iowa has a chance to win this one. Iowa just plain doens't have the talent, intensity, or anything that would allow them to win this. Their biggest win this season is against Purdue (8-5), whose biggest win is against Minnesota (6-6). Iowa has lost 3 games against teams under .500 this season, and haven't beat a BCS conference school in almost 2 months.

Texas, on the other hand, has won 9 games already, including wins against the top 2 Big XII teams. Yes, you could elude to the fact that Texas has lost their last 2 games, but it's been by a combined margin of 8 points.

I honestly think Iowa would have a decent chance to win if they were paired up with either Kansas State or possibly Missouri, but that's just not in the cards for them.

The real question is, why is Iowa bowling? Record of 6-6, 2-6 Big 10, losses to Northwestern and Indiana.... I guess if they hadn't scheduled that late Northern Illinois game they would have lost their last 5 games.

Texas crushing Iowa would be a nice Christmas present for us all

They're bowling because their fans travel fairly well, which usually gives those borderline teams an extra bump.

Will Chizik be coaching the game? That would be a great little sneak peak at what's comming down the line.

My prediction: UT 66 UI 0

After his ninth interception in the first half, Tate is benched in favor of Christianson who suffers a concusion on the next play. However, Randy Reiners happens to be in attendance and has some elegibility left. Iowa throws him a uniform and calls it's most efffective play, the quarterback scramble.

Chizik wont be coaching in the game. He is busy with ISU HC duties and moving also has a family and christmas is coming stretched thin.

I hope the game is similar to the UT vs CU Big12 Championship game last year. still cant believe the cheap hit CU QB took and UT didnt get a penalty.

I dont see WVU beating Rutgers. WVU just lost lost to South Florida. loss that shouldnt of happened.

UI beat UT in the Freedom Bowl many years ago (Chuck Long era) by the score of 55-7 or something like that. Maybe UT coaches will use the revenge factor as motivation.

Re: Texas to the Alamo Bowl??

Iowa will win for the simple fact that they don't deserve to be in the Alamo Bowl, Texas doesn't want to be in the Alamo Bowl, and no one thinks that Iowa has a shot to win, and I certainly don't want them to. Also, because the Big 12 usually gets screwed, Iowa will win.

They will win because no one wants them to.

I really don't think it will be that lopsided. Like someone else mentioned, Iowa played Michigan and OSU this year. Playing a big time team isn't new to them. I doubt they win but I don't think they'll be shellshocked.

Wouldnt be surprised if it was like back when KState played in the Alamo against Purdue and didnt show up for the game because they were passed over by Cotton & Holiday. No matter what happens the Crapeyes will be overhyped.
