Did anybody see this in today's St. Paul Pioneer Press? The article mentions McDermott as a candidate for the now vacant Minnesota job. Why on earth anybody would see this as a step up is beyond me. Gmac just signed a nice contract, is in his home state, has Hilton Magic, is recruiting up a storm, etc. etc.
Charley Walters is hit or miss on his daily "rumor" page, but this seemed to me to be very questionable "reporting." I suppose it's one of those cases where a good coach's name will come up for any major vacancy. I about did a spit take with my coffee this morning.
They must be smoking some good stuff up north. There is a 0% chance of GMac taking that job. ISU's future looks very bright and Minnesota's program is still trying to rebuild from their scandal-ridden program in the 90's.
I had to get back on my chair after laughing so hard to that one. The only name I've heard of being connected to that opening that was in any way close to ISU is Morgan and even that seems highly unlikely. GMac is not going anywhere for a very long time.
A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.
That entire article is some poor soul's delusion. Leave an NBA coaching job to coach to Gophers???
Mention a coach in the first year of his contract to take another position???
Half those names he listed on there would probably laugh if they got a call from Minnesotas AD. That guy must of been on meth when he wrote that article.
