College coaching searches

This article makes me appreciate JP even more. He targeted his guy and went after him. These other (some high profile) job searches seem to be stuck in the mud. The quick hiring will definitely help with recruiting and esp. hiring the assts. Chizik wants before they can get snatched up by other schools.

How about McC getting the Army job if it opens - the one Solich turned down.

If it opens for Mac, that'd be a GREAT job for Mac. They're a bad team, so he'd be given plenty of time to rebuild. He's also got the great character Army would be looking for. I'd become an Army fan

Who in the world would ever actually WANT to coach at Alabama? Its painfully obvious that their expectations are WAY too high. Shula goes 10-2 last year, then 6-6 this year and he's out? Please. Bear Bryant isn't coming back, Tide fans.

The only reason I can think of for anyone to go to Alabama to coach would be to sign a fat contract, and make sure it is loaded with a HUGE buyout, do your best to coach them, get canned, and sit back and relax on the buyout money.

I hear rumblings of McCarney going to Florida International? Remember them? Ha...getting beat up, literally, by Miami. Anyway, he would be the guy for that, he would clean them up for sure.

I'm not sure if McCarney would want to deal with all the thugs down there. He doesn't seem to be that type. I think he'll stay up here in the North somewhere, maybe Stanford being a possibility.

The wise move was to end it a few weeks before the end of the season so we could get a jump on the search....UNC did the same thing and wound up with Butch Davis....No way either school would have gotten their coach if the firings were at the end of the season and they were just starting their searches
