Skladany to UCF...
I heard on KXNO this morning that Skladany (sp?) took the DC position at Central Florida.

Re: Skladany to UCF...
Does that mean ISU is no longer obligated pay his contract through next summer?? -
Re: Skladany to UCF...
I wondered that too about the the coaches getting new jobs, but since it was a resignation I don't know how the buyout was negotiated. Anyone out there with some knowledge on this.

Don't think assistants "resigned"
-
Re: Skladany to UCF...
We weren't really paying them all that much anyway were we?

Re: Skladany to UCF...
Pollard did say that the assistant coaches contracts would be honored. Most expire this summer & a couple extend one year beyond that. Unfortunately B. Cotton's is one of those. Typically in this kind of situation, once a coach has found new employment then their salary from the previous school ends. -

It's official.... DMR link -
Re: Skladany to UCF...
although im not sure a few of the assistants will be, shall i say, high in demand (i.e. cotton) im praying that they all find new jobs soon. every $100,000 helps.

Re: Skladany to UCF...
I think the asst. coach buyouts were painful. If I remember right, Cotton just signed a new 2 year, and all the rest had to be paid off. Assts cost more combined to buy out that Mac I think.

I guess I will be a different voice in the thread. I always thought Skladany did a pretty good job. As far as Mac Assistants go he was solid. Considering what he had to work with.

Going to UCF Makes Me Wonder

Considering what he had to work with. I always felt our defense was too passive along the line of scrimmage. I don't know if he had other opportunites or maybe he went to UCF because of his relationship with O'Leary or the idea of living in Orlando was attractive.
However, Skladany going to UCF might mean that we had a mid-major caliber d-coordinator under Mac.

I trust Chizik's judgment, but for the amount of money that has been committed to assistant coaches, I was really expecting some big name coordinators to be hired.

It doesn't always have to be a "big name" to be a big hire. Programs that hire big names often times find that they've hired someone who has outdone their tenure as a great coach, and while they still may be good, really aren't worth the money they spend on them.
