Iowa favored by 7

It is that lovely time again to discuss what we all think about the game line...

I just put in a wager of $50... I meant to select ISU to cover 7, but my lack of brain power this morning has caused me to accidentally pick the hawkeyes to cover and submit the stupid wager.... and now I feel sick... at least it was only $50.

I think 7 points is over generous considering how mightily bad the hawks have looked this year. I am not saying we have looked great, but I anticipate a very tight game with a lot of defense and lack of scoring.

Any thoughts?

7, imo is a 50/50 bet (hence reason for bookies picking spreads). While i wouldn't put $50 on either side... rest assured that you aren't too far off.

What's the ML pay for an ISU win? Anyone know?

I have a buddy that does something like that intentionally, says it spreads out the pain. Bet for the opponent of your favorite team, then you either feel good that they won, or feel redemption to get paid this may have been a win-win.

LOL.... I would rather sulk in my pain I think.... There was no ML yet, but I would anticipate it to be around $250.

If I win, maybe I will always take the opposite of what my gut tells me.

I think Iowa by 7 is way too high. We both arent very good, it'll kind of be like a pillow fight, but I think it'll be a close pillow fight and come down to the last minute and be a one-possession game. If I can get 7 points out of my buddies at the game tonight I think I'll be laughing all the way to the bar and have extra money to celebrate the Cyclone victory!!!

Looks like UNI is the kingpin in the state. How far have we fallen, Matilda?

Won't it really suck for you if Iowa won by 3!!! The Cyclones lose, you lose $50 and you live with the guilt of betting against your team!!!

I'm a big fan of the "bet against your team" theory. Of course when it's a larger line like tonight I just parlay the other team (in this case Iowa) to straight up win along with another big favorite that same night.

If Iowa plays us like they did the first 3 quarters against UNI, we could easily lose by more than 7. But if they play like they did during their classic chokeye meltdown, we should win. Unfortunately, I think both teams will bring their "A" game, and Iowa will win because their guard play is stronger than ours right now. I don't think a 7-pt Iowa victory is unreasonable.

zimman18......just put two bets on ISU, that way it will even out.
Although you'd have extra fees involved in that. tough call.

Or one $100 bet on ISU which gets you back to your original intent. There's always the 'juice'.

I was hoping the line was going to be around 3...was gonna take Iowa and hope for an ISU win.
