Here's my picks for immediate needs that JUCOs might be needed to fill
1. Offensive Line
2. Defensive Backs
3. Running Backs
4. Defensive Line
5. Field goal kicker
To fill just the holes, seems like we need at least a dozen JUCOs for next year. Anyone else have thoughts?

We don't need a new kicker.

I don't know, but as long as he's better than Chris Hetland out of Florida, I'll take him!
But in all seriousness, no idea, but that position can easily be filled by a HS recruit that's just as good.

My thought is we will have to revert to a defensive team.
1. The defense is more important to stay in the game when you are shorthanded.
The reason why our backfield was so porous is that we could not rush Grandma to save our XMAS. Jason harris as a running back was converted to backfield.
The defensive line, more appropriately the rush ends are the most important recruits to obtain. Two Berrymans like TCU had would be a terrific addition.
2. Then to give the offense a chance, a 230 pound speedster running back who can catch flat passes would be the second neccesity. 1200 yards or more rushing is needed to eat up clock.
Wrap those three up and put them under the recruiting tree.

1) Offensive line
2) Defensive Line
I don't care who we have at running back or how good our linebackers are if we don't improve these two areas for next year. I think Coach Chizik wants tough teams and he knows this is where it starts. I think our new OC will help recruit some talent upfront.
P.S. This is the first post where I've typed "Coach Chizik", it sure is nice sounding.

I woudl agree with you. I see our need immediately in the o-Line. We need a quick fix for two years to get in some good high schoolers to eventually take over for the next three after that. Secondly I think we need d-ends, or shoudl I say RUSH ends. I still think Rashawn parker will be a very good player after developing during the offseason. Third, I see the need to be strengthening our DB's. Afterr that I will take athletes you are tough and have speed you can be moverd around.
Just my thoughts.

Our O-line this year was so dissappointing. When you gain 2, 1, 0, or worse on first down 9 times out of 10, it's pretty tough to be effective on offense.
Likewise, when you're giving up 7 yards on first down all the time, it's pretty tough to get a stop.
So I'll second the O-line and D-line as 1, 2. After that, whatever...

Parker def needs to bulk up and should become a good player. Nate Frere needs to get a lot stronger because he was just getting assaulted on the field, but he showed good size and skill for being a true frosh. Rubin takes up space and is solid. Braaksma is a high energy player that hopefully can move inside and be OK. Kurtis Taylor is the wildcard.

This post suggest that the Cyclones need to close to an entirely new team...

Something that people may not know about-sure this is a NFL stat but then again it makes sense
"No NFL team has ever won there game if leading after the third quarter with less then 4.0 avg. yards rushing".
In short we need a back that can run more then 4 yards a carry and a defense that shuts down the run.
