i LOVE UFC!!! I even went to a bar so I could watch a pay per view match between shamrock (formerly of WWF vs. Tito Ortiz!)
Once you watch UFC, boxing is just boring
I agree UFC is awesome once you understand it. A friend of mine got the Ortiz-Shamrock fight on PPV back in June, it was kinda disappointing though that it didn't last longer. But Ortiz is good and Shamrock is old, so it was to be expected.
Iowa has deep roots in UFC especially in the Quad City area.
I've noticed this as well. I don't watch it much. But each time I have, Iowa comes up at some point. I guess the training gurus are based out of the quad cities area. And wasn't Matt Hughs a wrestler at Iowa? Matt Hughs is a bad ***** mofo.
For those of you who care Tito Ortiz is dating Jenna Jameson. She is recently divorced and has moved onto Tito. This may come as devastation to you all I know. =)

You aren't kidding. You cannot get into a fight in Des Moines anymore because half the kids are training to be fighters. Unreal how big MMA has gotten.
Pat Miletich is a former UFC fighter and has a couple of camps throughout the state of Iowa. Matt Hughes is out of the Miletich camp. My favorite is Josh Neer. He is from central Iowa and is an awesome fighter. He has had a couple of tough losses recently, but is still really young and has a lot of heart & potential. If anyone saw his fight against Melvin Guillard then they know what I am talking about when I say he has a lot of heart.

I did, and that was something else. Only reason it wasn't stopped early is because the ref could tell Neer wasn't letting a 3 inch gash above his eye bother him. A neck lock from the back to put the man out. Thats one tough SOB!
This is funny because someone that I know that used to play football with him at ISU and said he was the biggest a-hole on the team. Apparently no one on the team really liked him and there were multiple instances of him trying to fight people in practice and in the lockerroom. The jaw fracture he suffered in college was from getting jacked in one of those fights apparently even though they reported it happened as a "freak accident." Looks like he also had a run-in with the roids too: http://www.iowastatedaily.com/media/...statedaily.com
So this UFC stuff after hearing about all the fights he got into while on the FB team is pretty ironic.
