Todd Fitch to return
I'm not sure I like our quarterback coach Todd Fitch sticking around. I feel Meyer has underachieved. I know his offensive line is weak, but he needs to learn to look off his receivers and he has never done that. I would think a quarterback coach would notice this and help to fix it.

Re: Todd Fitch to return
I think that Brett Meyer is good enough at qb to win a big 12 conference championship. BUT I can guarantee you that Meyer or any other qb is only as good as his Offensive Line.
I hope that our new coaching staff recruits better bigger and faster linemen from Texas Florida or wherever. Until the O-Line improves this team will continue to struggle esp in the big 12 conference play!!
Go Clones win a b-ball game for me soon!! -
Re: Todd Fitch to return
good O-linemen = good QB Brett needs help, Fitch has good skills and Coach Chizik knows his stuff

Re: Todd Fitch to return
I can understand what you're saying about Bret not looking off defenders. However, I think a lot of these bad habits are the result of knowing he had little time to throw the ball before getting pasted by multiple defensive lineman. My only hope is that he's not permanently scarred from our bad o-line play because I think he's proven to be an effective QB when given adequate time.

He's like a deer in the headlights at times trying to run the offense. He doesn't know when to get rid of it or tuck it in and run when he has nothing. Sometimes just comitting to one or the other a second or 2 earlier could be the difference between a sack, bad throw, etc. Plus he has that tendancy to lock onto 1 receiver. While a better O-line would definately help some of this, a good defense can still catch on to his tendancy to lock onto receivers and still make a play on the ball even if he had more time to throw it.
I don't think we'll have to worry about finding out if Meyer has what it takes to win a Big 12 Championship because we won't be in a position to do that next season with the current group of players we have.

Also, has Meyer ever used a pump-fake?

Re: Todd Fitch to return
i think its good that hes saying. as i remember before the season started urban meyer offered him the job at florida but fitch turned him down because of what dan had done to him and helped him through his ordeal in the offseason.

Re: Todd Fitch to return
Fitch was probably the brightest star on the former coaching staff. He's very good at what he does and he's a good recruiter. This was a good move by Chizik.

Re: Todd Fitch to return
Fitch is a good QB coach, good keep by Chizik.

Re: Todd Fitch to return
I like Todd Fitch a lot. Thrilled he's staying. I'm glad he 'stayed in the pocket' and made a great impression on Coach Chizik. Fitch has an outstanding track record and he's a great recruiter. Bret Meyer stuggled this year, but Fitch was not at fault.
Michael Vick would not have been successful behind the effort our O-Line, the blocking schemes, and the lousy play calling. Bret Meyer was running for his life in every game. To start most games, Cotton had him under center doing a 3-step drop and most defensive ends were beating him to his drop. It's amazing he wasn't sacked more. When that didn't work, and it never did, the offense got even more predictable.

Re: Todd Fitch to return
Yeah, there's not much a quarterback can do when he receives the snap, takes two steps back while checking his first option, seeing he's covered one moment, and then before step three getting the microscopic view of the football turf. Can't blame Fitch when Meyer has all of two seconds to throw a ball

Re: Todd Fitch to return
Speaking of new coaches, Nebraska just hired Buddy Wyatt for defensive line from old Alabama staff. He has been all around Oklahoma and other souterhn/midwest places.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style.
