Volleyball
I know ISU fans are warming up to Volleyball since you're having more success in that sport. I believe your coach either played and/or coached at Nebraska.
Nebraska won the National Title saturday night against Stanford. It was on ESPN2. It is NU's 3rd volleyball national title. NU was ranked #1 from the start of the season to now the season's end. Savah Pavan was the National Player of the Year. Next year NU gets back the 2005 National Player of the Year who was hurt this year so next year they will have 2 National Players of the Year on their team.
The title game was held at the Qwest Center in Omaha and they set a new record for the largest crowd ever to watch a College VB game with over 17,000.
Good luck as your VB program continues to improve.

Re: Volleyball
I'd tread carefully if I were you. These guys don't like us arrogant Husker fans invading their Big 12 message board and starting threads dealing with the Huskers.

Re: Volleyball
Well it'd be a little different if the first post had ANYTHING at all to do with ISU but it was basically a big list of stats for you Husker fans to brag about. Congratulations if that's what you were looking for.

No "we're better than everyone else" rhetoric and for once - a Husker fan posted something that didn't somehow tie in their football program. Plus, we were not bombarded with 500 links either.
Congrats to Husker volleyball. Nice to see a team from the Big 12 get the title. It was on a few TV's at Autographs where the Drake-Iowa and Dallas-Atlanta games were on as well. Plenty of people were there to watch the volleyball game.

Re: Volleyball
Volleyball talk? Now I've seen it all. Let us know when the Huskers dominate the collegate rodeo next year...

The first collegiate volleyball game I ever attended was this year's matchup against Nebraska. We lost, but I still had the most fun I've had all year at any sporting event. It's a fantastic game, and we really do have a pretty good team that's just going to keep getting better. There's never a slow point in the game, and it's just lots of fun to watch. I highly recommend going to some games next season!
I suppose I'll be the bigger man and say: congrats to the Husker ladies as well for their championship win. It's great to see a Big 12 team in that spot.
True and Valiant
I also remember a game with Kansas when Cy (wore a huge suit then) went out to center field, squatted, and "pooped" a couple of chickens that had been dyed blue then chased them around.

Re: Volleyball
While I'll admit it's a bit of an odd post to have here, for almost no reason at all. Yes Coach Johnson won a national title at Nebraska her senior year I think. They showed her on the broadcast as a player holder the trophy there.
For those who haven't seen a match, attend one soon. While women's basketball is fun and entertaining in my opinion women's volleyball is much more dynamic, especially when played in the environment and at the level Nebraska does, and some of them might start for our men's basketball team. (Okay I'm joking she'd be the first one off the bench).

Re: Volleyball
I agree that the ISU matches are fun to go to. I used to go to quite a few since they were included with wrestling in the "olympic sports pass" for students. Not too bad a time when you get to go watch toned college girls in spandex...mix up a stiff cocktail before heading out and you're set for the evening!!

Re: Volleyball
I watched the national championship the other night. A few observations:
1. Non-stop action; no scheduled TV timeouts.
2. Less focus on coaches on the sidelines directing traffic than fball or bball
3. No complaining to the referees by anyone
4. No bickering or trash talk between teams
5. A lot of nice looking girls (not all, of course)
