McDermott Postgame
He said something to the effect of "I'm sorry guys, but I can't play people who aren't where they need to be. That one possession could be the difference in the game. We need to learn that sometime and now is as good a time as any." (Not a direct quote because I can't remember exactly, but close.)
Shortly later he discussed how Jiri did not have a very good game and how when Ross played he was where he needed to be. I think we'll see Jiri's playing time continue to decline.

Re: McDermott Postgame
Wow...a few weeks ago McDermott placed a shot across Jiri's bow in a post-game press conference.
This shot was a direct hit. Hopefully he gets the message.

Re: McDermott Postgame
It's a tough business but I think we all agree Jiri isn't cutting it. I think he's capable of more than he's giving and it hurts him as much as the team. With Cory Johnson coming into his game tonight and Marsden & Gray getting healthy, Jiri will see limited minutes until he decides to leave everything on the floor and play with the team. This is just my opinion but one I know a lot of you share.

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player. -
Re: McDermott Postgame
However that plays out, good for Corey Johnson..

Re: McDermott Postgame
I thought Jiri grew up European style. Europeans are suppose to get good position and not make stupid gambles for the ball. When Oden is next to you, why try to help out and block the little guy shot whgen Oden will put the ball back in. We are talking about bball 101. You go, McD, tell Jiri the juries out on if he is playing for himself or for the team.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -
Re: McDermott Postgame
All of this makes me wonder if a tired Marsden, Gray, C Johnson are better (not only better, but substantially better) than well-rested Jiri.
I think we know the answer to this. Bench him

Re: McDermott Postgame
I thought Corey Johnson played awesome tonight. He played tons better than Jiri. I hope he gets alot more playing time. He's even better at shooting the 3 although I don't want him shooting too many of those, he's proven he can make it.

Re: McDermott Postgame
Dunson wasn't great tonight, but he's still a threat. These three freshmen are going to be tough come their junior year.

Re: McDermott Postgame
I suspect Jiri will be a much better team player in about two weeks. The clock is ticking.

Re: McDermott Postgame
Hey, there is a bowl game being played tonight. A big one. TCU is beating up Northern Illinois. Remember them?

Re: McDermott Postgame
Maybe Jiri will get the hint that we don't need another fricking guard, especially one who can't dribble in traffic or shoot the 3 for better then a 1.2% success rate. Corey Johnson handled Odem 200 times better then Jiri could that is for sure.

Here are the pregame warmups for the Cyclones at Columbus. No wonder they played so well:

He's really starting to come into his own and is playing well within GMac's system. Keep up the great work CJ!

He is showing he can make it and they are good shots when he does take them. He is 5 of 8 on the season. You usually don't become one of the top scorers in your state without being able to shoot the ball well, and he can help the team with that ability.

Re: McDermott Postgame
This is wild speculation on my part, but I don't see Jiri as one who will take a demotion and work himself back into the lineup. I feel there is a better chance he becomes bitter, and either leaves the team or sulks his way through the rest of the season.
Now I know he is a senior, and won't be able to transfer, but does anyone else feel something bad coming from him (besides his play)?
Forever trying to find a cure for the Dunning-Kruger Effect.
