my defensive line starters and backups are based on the idea of having 6-8 quality defensive linemen to come in and spell and be in on certain situations, I have Braaksma as a run defensive end and Tate as being more of a rusher, Taylor and Parker are prolly about even with Parker having a little more speed for pass. Rubin and Frere for the run and Dale and Johnson for the pass possibly, I think most great defensive lines have a good rotation of guys, you usually don't just rely on the 4 starters, because a lot of guys bring different things to the table for certain packages!!

FS-James Smith I agree, I will like to see James Smith in action! I hope Kris Means will be able to step up and play MLB for us. This would put Bowen and McKenzie at OLBs, and that would be dangerous. I think Josh Johnson should be the starting RB as of now, but you never know if Jason Scales will be back on track or even if we get a good new JUCO. Did Taylor get a redshirt??? I hope so. I was looking forward to seeing him in action but never got the oppurtunity.

Our Big Red neighbor just added three more commits and are sky rocketing in joy. Close to being done with recruiting. They took Larry Assante who said her fit with their players better, Larry starts at UNL in Jan. Listened to larry and I do not think he can do much mopre than play football from the interview if you know what I m,ean. Probably be a UNL academic all-American. (Have we had any? Thought so, there grading is easier in Lincoln.)He was interested in Clones as 4 star Coffeyville linebacker juco. Big Hoch from Harlan went to UNL for their engineering school. Gimme a break. He also liked the tradition which we do not have. Looks like Big Red are soaking up anything they can on defense. They do not have a 25 limit. (We do not either. With all our washouts, we must be able to go higher.) That is bad info from a previous thread. They are shooting for 30 at least - 4 open from last year, a grayshirt, and 25. Then they are trying to shove Gerald Adams out the door because he will not play and has just graduated. Goodbye, senior. Too bad about the red shirt.
Cosgrove continues to be the main defensive problem. He knows a lot but wants to force the players into his particular complicated scheme and not use young players. If I was a recruit, I would think their cupboard is full and you might not get much playing time unless injuries occur. All they need is a real rush end.

I think he did, but am pretty unsure about Taylor's redshirt, it would be nice to see him for 2 more years, with his injury problems he deserves 6 years, well actually about seven when it all comes down to when he enrolled as a greyshirt player

Those are pretty fair predictions...kinda too early (i.e. transfers, new recruits). Josh Johnson didnt impress me to much, but with all though talks about him in practice, he could be a stud, but noone could run with the line we had. Michael Tate was a great pickup, a 3 star defensive end in high school, and went to Arkansas, should contribute right away. I wouldnt be surprised to see Means get switched to fullback, and i saw one of his high school games, and reminded me alot of Ryan Kock, breaking tackles, and getting every yard that he can get.
By the way, i think you switched Schmeling and Knapp around.

No one could run with the line we had? I am pretty sure Hicks was up around 5 yards a carry, so was Koch during his starts and Scales was around 5 per carry against K State.

yea it was just meant to be my starters with the kids we have right now, I hope we do get some big young recruits and 1 or 2 more JUCOS, any more JUCOS than that would be too many, we need immediate help but JUCOS are risk and more than 5 or 6 risks is too much risk!

Dan Hoch is from Western Iowa right, well than it sort of figures he would go to Nebraska, until we really hit that area hard and make more Cyclone fans a lot of those kids are going to go to Nebraska because the a lot of those kids grow up Nebraska fans because of the exposure from Omaha stations and such. Chizik really needs to get to know some of those coaches at Harlan and schools like that who have had success and get his name in, because those kids aren't automatically going to want Iowa State over Nebraska, or a lot of them won't. Western Iowa is forgot about very often

By the way who is in your avatar? That is the Olympic gal who was stripped of her silver medal after DNA testing. Life can be tough.

He is being "forced to leave town" as he will not be a contributor and can be better replaced by a juco. Solich recruit. Heard this on Sportszone 1620 talk show.

What's his name and/or position? If he already has his degree, he's been on scholarship for 4 years. I have no problem releasing dead weight from the program, but I still haven't heard of this particular player and situation.
